I enjoy this record (Empty Mansions and Ava are non-single standouts for me) but I would rank it pretty low on their discography.

Hearing about half the record prior to the release didn’t help either lol

Had a similar thought - I had heard too much prior to the release. I wouldn't normally do that if I wouldn't have thought that some of the singles were like one-offs etc.

Woah.. that’s wild to me but exciting!! Highly recommend binging their entire discography.

They’re also incredible live and sound just as good on record if not better btw.

Exactly. Desert Snow and Hourglass were released a whole year ago as stand alone singles and Morning was released 8 months ago too lol

I personally hate roll outs such as this because it kills momentum and impact.

The last chorus has additional harmonies that are auditory bliss. I HIGHLY recommend seeing them live, they pull off all those harmonies perfectly. It's wild.

I've loved this album dearly for a decade and only semi-recently found out the majority of the songs are about the death of Kelcey's mom. "Black Spot" is fucking heartbreaking. A true no-skip album thru and thru though

Hummingbird is stellar (but so is Violet Street and most of Sunlit Youth)

Love seeing the Sunlit Youth love in here....Fountain of Youth and Everything All At Once are two of my fav tracks form them.

Also, echoing whoever said they sound better live, very intense and crisp.

Yeah, they’re in my upper echelon of live bands. Truly awesome live show.

I dig this, and I also probably could have been just as happy with this as an EP that dropped the non-singles on the back half of the album

I think Empty Mansions is going to wind up being my favorite on this — the groove that one gets into is really cool, but JBTM and Desert Snow are awesome too

I would truely love to see them live, they would fit perfectly as a headliner at this semi-big festival that's hosted in my current city (that I've been visiting each year for the past decade and more - it's called Off Festival), they've had bands like Foals, Grizzly Bear, not sure why this year's line-up is totally lacking of something like that

Haven’t seen a single mention of this on any social media which is kinda wild to me

Well, true, I haven't seen it anywhere to, I had to comment under some music fanpage lists to mention this is out too ;d ;d maybe cause it looks a bit like a mixtape compiling singles from a span of a year now

I don’t really know where I’d go to find mention of this besides here or like a specific subreddit to them, tbh (but am open to suggestions). Good coverage of or dialog around hifi indie pop/folk is hard to come by now that we’re far enough removed from the early 2010s when it was the flavor of the week

Just anecdotal on my part. Felt like their last record was really popular among my social circle. Even posted about it on Twitter yesterday and had multiple replies like “wait what??” Anyways, new record is great. Dig the vibe.
