I think I’m just less online than I used to be because I have no idea who she is or any of the other people talking here.

 

I only know that she is on the The Young Turks. Some of the people that have spun from them like Hasan Piker and Emma Vigeland are two folks who I follow/watch. I watch the Majority Report pretty much daily and Emma is a co-host on it so they have discussed this a bit.

 

I’ve heard of Young Turks but honestly had no idea what it/they was. None of those other names resonate either…

This thread is really my only outlet for political news besides the NYT, after ditching Twitter (never been a cable news person)

 

It absolutely blows my mind we haven't passed a "you can't participate in the stock market while holding a seat in legislative, judiciary or executive branch" law yet

 

who's we? the people that make the laws make entirely too much money from all that to ever make it a law

 

They can participate in the stock market, they just need to be restricted to investing in mutual funds and ETFs where they have no control over security selection.

Trading individual stocks should absolutely be banned, it’s insane that it’s not.

turns out you can be against something in the big picture while also understanding not everything is 100% cut n dry and helping the country being illegally invaded can be the right thing to do.

But it’s cool to know you can be anti-imperialist in 99 out of 100 issues, but that one issue where you feel it’s right to vote the other way (to say nothing of what else was in the bill(s) she voted for) will have your allies calling you “imperialist”. Just a brilliant way to entice young lefties into getting into government.
