Idk what waves are what.

 

The only waves I like are in the ocean

 

Just say it’s alternative and then never be wrong

 

The “emo” that is actually DIY hardcore punk is first wave. 80s, early 90s. Minor Threat and basically all those Dischord Records bands.

and then in between these two is like, Mineral

then Sunny Day Real Estate / Cap’n Jazz “a little whiney, but also grungy and erratic and still punk as fuck” is second wave. Mid to late 90s. This is what some people call “Midwest Emo” but I think that’s stupid, music doesn’t revolve around the Kinsella brothers.

And then between these two is like, Jimmy Eat World’s Clarity and American Football’s self titled

And then the third wave was the first real popular wave that basically fused with the pop-punk trend and became more polished because it was more mainstream and recorded in better studios. That’s the absolutepunk.net music we all grew up on lol

The influence is linear but so many other influences came into play that it changed the meaning of emo several times

We’re doing SeaHearNow in Asbury in Sept but thought for a minute about selling to do four chords but the killers and foo made the decision easy.

2-day tickets are sold out. So I think we’ll just pick one day now. But they’re pretty evenly split for me. So I’m not sure which I’ll pick. I’ll prob have my wife decide.

I'd do day two since I'm seeing yellowcard and Andrew McMahon this year. Taking back Sunday is awful live so easy decision to go day 2 for me.
