I love being at baseball and football games but with both I am VERY picky about where I will actually get tickets.

I like the atmosphere of baseball games in general, but if you aren’t close enough to a base to see guys get tagged out in real time, and you aren’t close enough to home plate to tell a slider from a fastball, honestly what’s the point of watching the game lol. Baseball doesn’t even have TV replays like NFL games do. Especially since I can usually get resale tickets near home plate for reasonable prices, why would I go to a worse vantage point to save what, $15 $20?

football I’m a little more open minded to sitting anywhere, but generally unless you can afford 50 yard line seats or club seats, I’d much rather be in the upper level where you can get a better idea of how far a ballcarrier went and what kind of plays each team is calling / what their strategic approach is.

I’d much rather be analyzing the routes and coverages from high up, than squinting at the game from across the field 80% of the time, not being able to really see the full scope of plays because the angle is so steep, and not being able to tell a 3 yard run from a 10 yard run until I watch the TV screen. The latter is not worth feeling removed from half of the game just for those few awesome plays that happen in front of you (although there are exceptions -being right in front of 3 contested AJ Brown TDs was the absolute best thing for that Philly / Pittsburgh game).

cheapest ticket to get me in the building and i generally do not care where i sit at a baseball game, just give me a beer and a sausage&peppers and let me yell at the mets

id rather spend $200 on a ton of food and beer at a bar with 15 big TVs than buy (1) ticket to see a football game in person

My dad has season tickets to the Steelers and I always thought I’d want them after him but I honestly don’t. Watching football at home is so much better especially cause his seats on 8 rows back on the goal line so you don’t see shit at the other end.

I mean, I already do that (but spend way less lol) most of the year. Sure in a vacuum it’s more comfortable and less of a hassle to go to a sports bar if we’re just taking about one game, but when there’s 17+ weeks of games a season, going to a few is a great spectacle / change of scenery

Sitting far away for baseball games is absolute ass, no point in being there

If I bought season tickets ever it would definitely be for one of the lower rows of the upper level, in the middle near the 50 yard line. Fuck the lower bowl, give me the actual broadcast camera angle

Being a strategy nerd is entirely why I like to go to football games. I want to see the chess match between QB and defense, between offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator, that you only get cherry picked examples of during the live broadcast.

If I could watch every game live / in real-time from an All-22 angle on TV that would be a “shut up and take my money” kinda thing for me

I do like the excitement and detail / visibility of the broadcast angle too, but that’s better for seeing player skill than the entire team’s strategy

the live game format is perfect - I have the broadcast angle on a superscreen whenever I WANT it to see “damn that WR had amazing footwork and just totally fooled him at the catch point”, but because of being able to see the whole field, I also get really into the suspense of what each coach is trying to do to respond to changes in on-field momentum.

And I get really into, like, “damn that QB could’ve thrown that but I see why he held the ball, decent chance the safety came across the field” and actually understanding the reason why the QB hesitated, almost got sacked, and had to throw it away. You don’t see that during the broadcast really.

I don't care about baseball so I just like being there for the vibes and looking at my gorgeous city of Pittsburgh. and all the IC light.

i watch baseball so much differently at home. at the game its a way more casual experience, be there with friends, drink your butts off, threaten mr mets life, sing billy joel in the 8th inning, at home on the couch i watch games WAY more intently.

also making me sad is anti-baseball watchers.

being at the game is great because the vibe.

being at home is great as a second screen activity. baseball is the perfect sport for shitposting while watching the game.
