It's funny that Sallah is supposed to be the big return but in the forty years they were trying to get this made Short Round became a movie star again. I wonder if they got him to show up.

    Doesn't sound that way.

I'm curious though, is that an issue if it's true?

“Hey, Indy, where is your son at?”

“I dunno, guess he died in Nam…”

I'll explain it again for the people in the back. People get too hung up on the artifacts themselves when discussing why they're different, because it's the easy thing to point to, but changing the world in which Indy existed for 3 movies from homage to '30s adventure serials to '50s sci-fi homage was jarring for audience. It's okay if watching it now you didn't feel that or understand that's why audiences rejected it at the time, but that's the general consensus and it makes total sense.

It just feels like a disservice to the character. If one of his relatives are said to have died in Vietnam then ok,

Considering there’s no proof either of them exist, it’s not false. You can choose to believe they do or not, no one knows

    Fight the long defeat.

There's far more historical evidence for the ark and the life of Jesus than for extraterrestrials, at least coming in contact with earth. While the ark and cup may be lost, they certainly existed and may still.

None of this is real because this is a simulation.

What evidence? The evidence is people believing they exist. I’m not saying aliens are real or not real. My point was that I find aliens far more of a realistic concept than religious artifacts with fantastical powers.

Y’all. This is a film series inspired by pulpy adventure serials. I don’t think the specifics of the fantasy MacGuffin are that important, outside of how well it’s utilized as a fun lil storytelling device.
