But I was gonna suggest Club Cafe. Seems like the right vibe. Brillobox is pretty solid.
Also look up Bottlerocket. They’re right down the street from my work, and it’s a super tight place. They do all their own bookings. Usually a mix of comedy and indie stuff with weird DJs and concept performance stuff. I’m going to see Rat Boys there this fall.

I think Toney has 100% earned the right to talk shit to the Giants for choosing to tone police his personality and punish him for bristling at Joe Judge’s authoritative coaching style, instead of letting him be the confident star player he is capable of being

He went to the Chiefs, won a bowl, is now gonna be probably their leading receiver next year. This is the talent he’s always had & NYG have no leg to stand on, it’s egg on their face. If I was in his position and almost got erased during my rookie deal because my awful coach who got fired had a stick up his ass, I’d be making sure they eat crow about it too.

Maybe they should’ve been more like Andy Reid and embraced the swagger of their players rather than trying to keep them under their thumb… one of these days coaches gotta learn that shit doesn’t fly anymore in the modern NFL. Black players nowadays are well aware their skills and swagger are what makes the league most of its money, and they do have the leverage to go to a team where they can be themselves and not have to appeal to outdated white-centric optics

 

We can’t be all “I support Jalen Ramsey, fuck Tom Coughlin” a few years ago, but then act like the Toney narrative isn’t the same exact thing. No one except Jags fans had a problem with Jalen talking shit about the Jags after he won a ring with LA

 

Ramsey had proven a lot more about himself as a player by that point than Toney has at this point. If he does break out next year, then he'll be proven right

 

It’s a culture thing to me. You never see talented white players get shut down by their teams for being too outspoken. I don’t expect everyone to agree but based on my perspective as a black person who grew up in a whole city that expected me to code switch and tone police myself… i’m just saying the quiet part out loud

guy spent more time injured than on the field and when he made it clear (justified or not) he had no interest in playing for this team they did him a favor and shipped his ass off to a super bowl contender.

Toney showed up to practice with the wrong cleats to own Joe Judge

 

I remember weeks of Toney not being injured and just being benched/buried on the depth chart and Joe Judge throwing him under the bus in press conferences when asked about it

I’m not saying it’s only a race thing but I am saying that plays a role in a lot of these tense disputes between players and teams. It’s not an isolated incident. It’s a cultural problem with the NFL and NFL media that is taking forever to go away because you still have Gil Brandt ass dudes holding prominent roles

 

Toney was asked about the situation multiple times and based on his responses it really felt like a familiar scenario when “talented player with swagger/attitude pisses off coach even though the coach should know that competitive personality is what makes them GOOD”

I really think we need to put more blame on coaches when they can’t manage players’ personalities - a lot of these coaches are shithead narcissists too. & you never see actually successful coaches have problems getting into it with their players. Part of good coaching is knowing how to respond to different players’ needs and finding more creative and collaborative ways to keep them focused on the goal.

 

All the analysis I ever hear of Toney’s game in the NFL is that he is extremely rough as a route runner, which might explain why not only the Giants didn’t get him on the field when they needed help at WR, but also the Chiefs.

Worth mentioning that Toney played just TEN (10) snaps in the AFC championship game and Super Bowl COMBINED (4 in the former, 6 in the latter) after playing 16-20 snaps per game late in the season and in the divisional round. Dude went from being utilized as a role player with the Chiefs to barely being utilized at all.

Toney has shown very little to this point in the NFL. It’s time to stop living off his college highlights and the fact that he was a first round pick. He’s more of a gadget guy at this point than he is a full-fledged WR. I will change my stance when provided with new, meaningful information, but, at this point, he’s far from a lock to be one of the Chiefs’ starting WRs.

 

Joe Judge was a horrendous head coach too. Both things can be true.
