    Also, I remember you mentioning you know some really good bands in town, would love if you could point me in their direction

    @EntryLevelDave same question for Boston
    @Victor Eremita same question for Cleveland
    @Owlex same question for Cincinnati
    @Joe4th same question for Detroit
    @PeacefulOrca @Sean Murphy same question for NY
    @williek311 same question for Richmond

    Lol, only city out of those I've played before is Richmond. & I am working on potentially doing the short midwest tour with a really good touring DIY band from Cincy called Lung, so they probably already know all the good Ohio bands lol, but having more options definitely helps.

    I am a mid 30s dad who lives 45 minutes outside the city. I unfortunately know nothing of the youths or their music

    to be fair I'm not just looking for youths haha, I'm 32 myself so it's definitely a plus to play with some actual peers and not only be targeting young 20-somethings.

    Fortunately, theres actually a pretty large population of 30+ musicians like me who were doing pretty well in the late 2010s and felt robbed by the pandemic and are still chasing the dream

  7. @Randall Mentzos for Pittsburgh add brillobox and the smiling moose to your list for smaller venues

    For Philly add philamoca and underground arts to the list

    I don’t get out to shows tbh and the ones I end up at tend to be shitty cover bands but I have one I’d recommend highly. This guy is local here in Akron but he’s made a name for himself in the region. Very good musician, and I know he likes to play shows with other musicians because my friends have played with him regularly: https://www.bengagemusic.com/

    @Randall Mentzos I agree about Philamoca and UA. Additionally, look into Ukie Club, King Fu Necktie, World Cafe Live, The Foundry, Milkboy, Brooklyn Bowl, and Ortlieb’s. I’ve never been to the last two I mentioned, but I am going to a show at Ortlieb’s on Friday

    I want to say all/most of those venues will be good for you. Low cap and I’ve seen a bunch of indie bands play there to maybe 100-200 people, if that. Underground Arts and World Cafe Live are likely the biggest ones, but World Cafe Live has two stage rooms where smaller bands usually perform upstairs near the bar, while the bigger acts tend to play downstairs on the more traditional stage.

    Not Philly, but if you want to hit Lancaster county, you can look into Tellus 360, which is in the city. In Millersville, right by the college campus, is Phantom Power. Awesome venue that I’ve played at and friends of mine have too. Thursday, Anthony Green, mewithoutYou, and Mannequin Pussy have rolled through there, as well as other notable acts. Worth checking out.

    I'm always down to hit smaller cities, I've played some of my best shows in towns i'd probably never visit otherwise. I've played a sold out show in Columbus GA, played to over 200 people at festivals in Daytona FL, Valdosta GA, and literally down a series of unpaved dirt roads in Bunnell FL... them podunk towns that ain't got nothing else get REALLY excited about any local music (and Lancaster is nicer than all of those other places lol)

    Regardless, if you book a show in Philly or around Lancaster, chances are high that I’ll be there. Stoked for you bud. Go birds

    I'd love to and I know at least two other people there who would bring multiple friends to a show. Maybe i might be able to do Texas & a couple middle-country dates on my summer 2024 tour, I'm not sure. I mean I want to play Minneapolis too but that's the part where the drives are so far and I have literally no idea how much I'm gonna get paid or how many people will be there lol
