Sheridan doesn't know how to end a season.

I can't wait for Spencer to make it to Montana in the series finale.

My theory Spencer and Alex will end up dying in Montana, not before Alex gives birth. Jack and/or his wife raise their baby as their own. That baby will be John Dutton's father

lol I couldn't help but to laugh at that ending... It made sense towards the beginning of the season - "oh shit, the Duttons are at war with a bunch of sheep farmers who will show up guns blazing! Better call the badass, ex-military, leopard-hunting nephew to come in and show them who's boss!"

But now they ended with the ranch getting financially ruined and still saying "Spencer - come save us!" What do they need him to do? Come pay their taxes? I know the show will find a way to simply make "kill everyone" the solution, but still

Yeah I bet they originally had Spencer getting home much quicker, but somebody along the way was like "This actor is a hunk; let's give him a romantic subplot to bring in the female viewers", thereby dragging his storyline out waaaay longer than it needed to be, thereby also creating more difficulty for the Dutton ranch than there normally would have been.

Agreed. It seemed like the trajectory was going to be where Spencer shows up while Jacob is still sort of recovering from the attack and then take the reins. But instead they wanted him to basically have his own show and give the Montana crew a bunch of random stuff to do in the meantime lol.

Don't get me wrong, I still dig the show (especially more than current Yellowstone), but the pacing was much better at the beginning.

This should have not been more than one season.

Paramount Officially Orders ‘Yellowstone’ Sequel, Announces an End to the Main Series

Sounds like they're at least getting a set premiere date out of the way, and now will work on how they can get all of Costner's written parts filmed in just one week. And good now that the season will go to Paramount+ and not Peacock, like all of Yellowstone previously

Well, that has been the stipulation Costner had apparently demanded during the negotiations, I assume to accommodate his Horizon movie filming schedule. Whether they’ll work out a deal or not to expand the number of days he’s on set to film remains to be seen

Didn’t John Dutton have some kind of cancer or something? Just say it came back.

Or open the next episode with a car wreck and he’s in it but then a horse pulls up and pulls out a gun and puts him out of his misery

TBH, that's probably not far from the truth in terms of how they'll show his character go, and to do it in the very first episode would be huge. Then you have the rest of the season to show how the characters deal with the aftermath. I'd say it's pretty certain at this point that the next Yellowstone spinoff will be set at the Four Sixes ranch in Texas, with most of the main cast moving down there

I bet some at Paramount are secretly stoked about this because now the new main series can stream on Paramount+ instead of Peacock.
