So I'm continuing to explore the area around Lurelin Village, and at one point I heard an unearthly cry, heard ominous music, and the sky went red briefly, and I have no idea what the fuck that was and what happened. And no, it was not the monsters resetting, that's clearly identifiable. This was like I'd wandered into a boss battle without knowing it, and then the battle chose not to happen.

If anyone wants to tell me what that was, I'd appreciate it.

 

It's a monster made out of gloom made up of just 3 hands with eyeballs in the palms. It's very creepy and I run away every time.

 

Oh fuck, it was a Gloom Hands? That was a narrow escape then. I keep fearing I'll run into another one in the caves I'm exploring. It's not the hands that bother me so much as what comes after.

 

Yeah I had 0 problems moving the band. Those quests are cute.

Took a little fan operated sled into the water to retrieve a chest but once I got out there I had nowhere to set it so I just attached it to the bow and opened after I got back to shore.

The dueling peaks one was a lot better. I liked making a little fan boat for them.

Officially upgraded my stealth armor and Hylian armor at 2 fairy fountains so far! Nice to have some better protection now.

Just cleared my first temple. The wind temple. I had more fun just getting up there I think than I did on the ship itself. Way cool, though.

 

I've been going from town to town and just helping out the various citizens with their stuff. I'm currently embroiled in a mayoral election, because if there's something this series needed, it's politics. I feel like there's something I'm supposed to be doing, but I can't remember what it is... rescuing someone? Starts with a Z? I guess it can't be too important. Oh well, back to the election!

 

I was just standing by a chasm as a bloodmoon kicked in, and during that a dragon flew down the hole into the depths. It looked so sick

 

I still need to finish that. Got like two more people to give mushrooms to.

 

Kinda shocked how good my son is at this game. He’s 8 but he’s been playing BOTW since he was 3. He just tried taking on phantom Ganon and got to the second phase but he’s just no match for it.

 

Y’all had me scared of phantom Ganon but he was pretty easy tbh

 

Believe it or not, I'm back in the Arctic regions. I'm just chipping away at different pathways, hoping eventually I'll make headway. Once again, blows my mind that I have so much more of the main map to go, and I still have barely explored the underground, and haven't even touched the sky since the beginning of the game. Like, fuck.

Is this bigger than Elden Ring? It feels like it's bigger, and with more to do. Am I imagining this?

Well, I’m at the point in the game where I could go beat the Demon King.

Instead, I spent all weekend in the depths, and earned my 7th battery, defeated the Yiga Clan for good (at least in TotK), and have 18 hearts. I think I’ll try to fight Ganondorf when I get 20 hearts.

This next part is mildly spoilery unless you’ve got all the dragons tears, but it seems once Purah realizes that Zelda became an immortal dragon and gives you the Destroy Ganondorf final quest, the blood moon cutscene no longer shows Zelda or has her voiceover. I just found that attention to detail interesting.

 

I didn’t even notice that because I always just skipped the cutscene. That is a really cool detail
