  2. How’s everyone’s wallet feeling? I missed the first wave of tickets due to daring to attend a work meeting so I got the second or maybe third wave for Saturday.

Grabbed an LCD Soundsystem ticket for Chicago! Might get a Boygenius ticket at some point, but not really stressed about it.

I want to go to the Chicago LCD date, but RIIS Park looks like it’s close to the burbs. Feels like it’s gonna be a nightmare getting out there.

Saw Boygenius at opening night yesterday. They were amazing! They seem so happy together on stage.

Also, Clairo posted on her Instagram that this will be her last tour for a while so dont miss her set!

Yeah, that's surprising. Boygenius in Chicago has been sold out for a while, and LCD still has tickets available.

This Chicago situation sucks I want to be excited to see them but it's a bit hard to be right now

  11. I know this isn't how any of this works but goddamn just put it in the United Center parking lot or some shit.

Ya I'm hoping they would have a back plan. Or personally I could live even if the whole festival doesn't happen as long as Boygenius does a make up show and gives Re:SET people first chance at tickets

  13. For sure, I just wanna see this lineup at some point.

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. I don’t even know where they could pivot to because the only AEG-aligned venues (and I say that loosely because they don’t outright own any venues here AFAIK) are the Riv and Vic. Could they possibly move these there considering what we’ve learned of how they’ve sold? Maybe.

But anything else would require an agreement with a Live Nation venue or those venues are already booked.

We’ll know soon enough if it’s on the agenda for the meeting in exactly one week. I’ll keep checking.

What about Union Park? Pitchfork is held in there every year and so far there hasnt been any issues

That’s a great question. I don’t know if the new process allows for a rapid change in location without having all the community meetings.

The more I think about it, the more I like Union Park becoming the permanent festival park for Chicago. Yes, they’d have be smaller festivals, but nothing beats Pitchfork when it comes to how compact and easy it is to get around.

    Things have changed.

This whole thing seems needlessly complicated. Just make them normal shows with normal promotion.

If they hadn’t seemingly picked a park in Chicago simply by looking at a map…

What's the big issue with these? Seems normal enough to me.

It all starts with Riot Fest back in 2014. They were encouraged by the alderman for Humboldt Park to increase the size and move to the north side of the park. Community anger ensued, he then changed positions and sided with the community and they were forced to move.

That leads us to Riot Fest in Douglass Park. Community was ok with it for the first year, largely seems to still be ok with just it but then there were two more festivals added to Douglass Park over the summer, reducing the time the park is available for a marginalized community. This has resulted in anger towards any festivals held in Chicago parks, especially those in Douglass Park, resulting in a new process that puts the power in the Chicago Park District board to approve any events above a certain capacity. Conveniently, this process was circumvented/avoided by the Nascar race to be held here in a few weeks in Grant Park…

I don’t disagree with the updates to the process as I do believe the community should be involved with deciding what events they’re comfortable with (for example, Riis Park has never had an event of this size and the community it is in is much different than, say, Humbdolt Park and Lawndale). AEG either lacked the knowledge on what it would take to get approval for Chicago or just didn’t care at all about the process.

AEG aligned venues in Chicago are also booked for that weekend so I truly don’t know where they could move this to unless it’s another park like Tifoil suggested or they do it in the United Center parking lot.

I was thinking going to Chicago for this. Im glad I choose San Diego instead with all that is going on with Riis park

That makes sense and I think it's something that concert-goers always forget/ignore when they go to these places. As someone who lives a few blocks away from Prospect Park in Brooklyn, I can see a large part of the community being super pissed/annoyed if it was closed on the weekend for a private event. In fact, they DID that one year with the Great Googamooga (Yeah Yeah yeahs, Flaming Lips, The Darkness) and the destruction to the grounds was so severe that they have not held a private event there since.

  24. Union Park is great, I have no pulse on how the community around it feels but it feels like it's approaching summer festival saturation (I live about a mile west of there and there's at least 3-4 including P4K).

With ReSet being just one stage Im surprised they didnt use Northery Island for it. There is no way they are doing worst numbers than Sad Summer which is taking place in there.

There is also Sueños Festival and Pride in the Park at Grant Park, they are just one stage but not sure how big the actual festivals are. It is definetly expensive but Im surprised more festival dont look into it. They dont have to use the whole park like Lollapalooza
