Just want to say to everyone that going into a car dealership with a loan rate that they can't beat is the easiest way to buy a car. Didn't try to sell me on shit except the extended warranty.

 

Also officially have a hybrid that gets over 40mpg so super stoked about that!

 

To update on the numbers/respond to this post:

Yep this is pretty much what we're qualifying for. We'd get the $2000 tax credit and a program specific to our state would get us another roughly $950 or so in rebates. So it will make the heat pump system cost about the same/maybe a little less than just an AC unit. We'd still have the natural gas heater to pick up the slack for the heat pump when it gets under 40 degrees and needs to defrost and all that, so that's nice too. So not totally clean energy but reducing our usage of natural gas by a lot.

But yeah that heat pump rebate not being in effect yet fucking suuuucks. If that thing were in effect we'd be able to get the heat pump for like $1900 total, possibly less. Hurts, but doable. Instead....sigh. Probably looking at a payment plan with a shitty high interest rate.

 

Also I think it's interesting that "biomass stoves" count for that same tax credit. So I could get a wood burning stove and get up 30% of the cost in tax credits for it haha

Edit: however, it seems that tax credit is not refundable. So won't actually get the full $2000 if you don't owe $2000 to the govt at the end of the year. Lame.

 

Just finished a 3 week 2nd degree murder trial as a juror. 5/10 kinda interesting but would never do again.
