Fun little story for the few other Ravens fans here:

My late father owned a small transportation company. Originally limos, later organically evolved to black car service. His brother took it over when he passed.

I got a call from him early Saturday morning. “Guess who we’re picking up today?” I thought this was weird. They’ve had their share of low level celebrities over the years and some political speakers for local colleges, but never anything that would be interesting enough to me to warrant a call like this out of the blue. We're in Maine, after all.

“I just got off the phone with the secretary for the GM of the Baltimore Ravens, Eric DeCosta. We’re picking him up from a private jet at 5.” Okay. Not what I was expecting. They were told it was a party of 5. I presumed it would be the family, given that they have three kids. It also happened to be their wedding anniversary weekend, Lacie had just posted it on Twitter about an hour before I got the call.

I tipped him off to this and he thought it'd be nice to get them a good bottle of champagne as an ice breaker for the driver. I have a cool commemorative Ravens ball with a bunch of facsimile signatures that I figured would be really cool to get signed, but we (my uncle and I) both thought it might seem a little unprofessional. Ultimately, he thought it was novel enough that someone related to the company would have such a huge Ravens fan, in Maine. So, he picked up the ball from me and figured he'd test the waters on the drive and only bring it up if he felt EDC wouldn't mind.

So, fast forward to the actual pick-up: it wasn't Lacie and the kids. It was some college buddies. Still, they all found the gesture to be really kind, and they were excited about the champagne. I was told EDC was incredibly nice, the group tipped well, and he was very happy to sign my ball. Small world.

 

I'm so jealous of my sister's hybrid. I should've bought one.

 

Apparently, I have allergy-induced pink eye. Didn't know that was a thing.

My hopes are high; we might even hit mediocre this year!

 

This sounds like the kind of thing people invent to explain away the STD a stripper gave them

I did Atlantic City beer fest this weekend and it totally was worth it ! Got super nostalgic and saw 311 as well ha

All the redness and itchiness with none of the puss and crustiness.

The Colts have like 5 players I’d expect the “average” fan to know, which is pretty unfortunate

 

I'm going with Michael Pittman JR

 

If I had to guess based off the criteria given and their recent roster moves, I’d guess Mo Alie-Cox or one of the tight ends

Pittman/Pierce/Dulin maybe make sense too since they just signed Perriman

 

Does anyone outside of the AFC South know Mo Alie-Cox though?

 

Idk, I was using “the average fan” line as “if someone in this thread’s team traded for the player, would they need to ask who the player is or if they’re any good”, which Mo Alie-Cox probably passes the threshold of

If the line is “would my wife recognize the name if I told her he was suspended”, the options would basically be Taylor, Pittman, Big Q, and Darius Leonard
