he talked for 10 minutes about how muting people on social media will improve you live

    the sweet sweet irony

I could see the talking between songs being a way of playing a longer set without getting tired. The dudes 47 years old so I’d cut him some slack lol

I mean, Robert Smith is 64 and he is currently playing 2.5hrs set every night. Similar case with Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney in their 70's

I know, I’m just trying to think of reasons he would talk that much because it’s rather odd and he hasn’t done that in the past. Personally I’d prefer a quick 45 minute headlining set over a 60-70 minute set with 15-20 minutes of talking. At least Gaslight plays for 2 hours when Brian talks for 20-25 minutes of it.

JT’s 47? I thought he was way younger than that

Yep. He was already in his late 20’s by the time they broke out. I was shocked when I first read his age because he looks a lot younger than his age, but yeah he’s one of the older frontmen from the mid 2000’s emo scene.

That’s wild… that means he was 28 when Ohio Is Lovers got huge huh!

I thought Justin from MCS would take that title, but he’s only a year off. Haha

play for 30 minutes and get out then. no one needs a 75 minute hawthorne heights set

I wonder if (in this case, bc it was a food festival) they were contracted to play a long set - they tweeted and announced on stage that they were playing "their longest set ever"

Worst for me is Anberlin… set grinds to a halt and Christian starts preaching about his causes for 5-10 minutes. Was really bad and awkward on their reunion tour

While somewhat on the subject, anyone get annoyed that bands who have been touring for 20 years + and have a bunch of albums still only play like 13-16 song sets on a headliner tour? With the way ticket prices are going some bands need to step up and get in the 20-25 range

I feel this. 90 minute sets with only one opener should be normalized at this point. I know for some genres it’s hard since some rely on multiple openers and whatnot, but yeah

And when half of those 13-16 are the same songs they play over and over, instead of going for some deep cuts every once in a while. Thats why Im jealous of people going to the new Iron Maiden tour, they're playing some songs from old albums that havent been played love before.

I have big respect for bands that play long sets and change their setlist every night like Pearl Jam or Bruce Springsteen does

Couple weeks ago, I went the Used's album release show. They only played 13 songs and the ticket was almost $60 after fees lol. The set was just under an hour long

yeah that’s insane. They are the kind of band that should be doing hour and a half long, sprinkle in some deep cuts for the heads type of band

Belated, but the biggest "WTF he's THAT old" for me was buying the Third Eye Blind CD in 1997 and hearing that Stephan Jenkins was already 32 (though he tried lying about his age for a bit).

They've always been an odd band like that. I saw them headline in 2003 and they played 8 songs total. NO encore.

Not really a "tour" so much as a singular local show but I'm too excited about it not to post... So...

No Trigger teasing a Canyoneer set at their 9/1 show here in Boston.

Speaking of tour news, we really need a Lana Del Rey tour of some sorts. She's released three full lengths since her last tour.

Modest Mouse are very good about this too. They typically do 22-24 songs that vary their entire discography. Random deep cuts too
