Seconded. You really only go for the 12.9 because of the performance, which isn't one of his priorities. Even then, the 9.7 is almost and equal performer.

 

I was under the impression that the pro that is the same (or similar) price as the MacBook is a more powerful machine.

 

I mean yeah, it's more powerful, but the model you are referring to as equal price is the 128GB model. Just saying that's the reason for the price equality there. They don't offer a 128GB MacBook, but if they did it would probably be priced at $1,099.

 

I'll also add that you don't go for the 12" MacBook, if performance is a priority. That's the Pro is for. The 12" isn't targeted towards those users who need a powerhouse laptop.

 

My new company is providing me a company phone, only option was IPhone 5 or 6S. Went with 6S, hate how small 5 is.

First IPhone. I'm scared....

True, true. I was interested in the 12 for the bigger size (for my doodling), not the performance, but upon a second look the 12 seems a bit too large.

Anyone have thoughts on 53s Pencil vs Apple Pencil? I'm currently leaning toward the 53. I like the aesthetics of it more, but it also seems more functional (with the eraser).

 

I understand it's just that to me the price difference is too small to warrant not getting a pro. And the portability difference is negligible to me - a pro is also pretty portable. I'm hoping for a more dramatic price difference between the pro and the MacBook come June but I'm not expecting it.

 

Nah, I literally doubt there's one left. The staff are saying pre-order but that's 7-10 days wait and you can't do pick ups so I think there are none.

 

The portability factor is far from negligible between the two, haha. The 12" is WAY smaller than the 13" Pro in every way. I think you're right on the price being a little too high for the 12", because I've stated that myself already.

 

Apple Pencil by far. It's the best one out there.

Super happy with mine after resolving the Office 365 subscription issue. I love the larger screen + Smart Keyboard setup. I feel like the smaller one could be another iPad 3 (if anyone remembers that).

The 4gb of RAM future proofs it for a while, but the true tone would have been nice!

I guess that was poorly stated, what I meant was for my purposes the difference in portability is negligible because I have never had any problem carrying around my 13" pro. Never felt it was too big, too heavy, etc. of course the MacBook is much smaller and would be more convenient but the better specs combined with the fact that the price difference is so small makes the portability difference negligible for me personally.

 

Going to bed with 39% battery left on my SE with right at 7 hours usage according to the battery page. My old 5S would be dead by now.

iMessage is suddenly acting up on me. My computer and phone are sporadically notifying me/getting the messages and only my ipad is getting it every time. It's weird and inconsistent.

 

Dang, I missed that. I'm guessing refresh next month?

 

Best microphone to use with iPhone? Like one that plugs in to do interviews and such? Something besides iRig.

 

Whenever that happens to me I just reset up iMessage on both.

 

Thoughts on Apple TV? I am considering getting it fairly soon.

 

Anyone have Apple CarPlay? I just gotta new car that has it and it's definitely cool. That said, it seems to be kinda below the standard you would expect from something branded by Apple. Software is really wonky. People have all kinds of issues with it. The only one I have had is that some podcasts will play with no audio. And it's very odd because some podcasts play with no issue but some have no audio. If I unplug the phone and play through the phone's speakers they all play fine. If I play the same podcasts that don't work in CarPlay through the car's normal software, like play it without CarPlay as if it were just a normal USB device, they all play fine as well. I downloaded overcast, which now integrates with CarPlay, and have had no issues with that app.

I've read that others have the same problem of no audio but across the board with music, podcasts, etc.

 

Love it. Not sure what you need it for, but if you're invested into Apple products already it's a no-brainer.

I want the new iPhone SE but I guess I'll have to buy it outright so I can use it on StraightTalk

 

I love it, the only thing it's lacking is 4K capabilities (if you're into that). I guess when it comes out next year I'll buy that one and move my AT4 into another room.
