I was trying to describe myself to someone

Hey, I was assured that United would fail to beat Chelsea. Newcastle have slipped to 4th now. This is unacceptable.

(As was failing to slaughter Leicester )

There was an odd stat popped up the other day. Newcastle have hit the post 16 times this season. No idea if that's a lot for a normal season, but if you consider how many goals missed by like an inch that is, makes me wonder how many points we were just a post away from.

    Lmao, of course!
My only goal really is to finish in the top 50k, so I just want to avoid a last-day disaster and leave everything else up to chance tbh.

At one point, I was either in first or within single digits of first and I’ve cratered since March. Stupid fantasy.

Guy was on loan in League two from Newcastle and apparently kept betting on them to lose out of spite hahaha

Absolutely same. Looking like I'll be 4th or even 5th by the end. Still my best ever season, but gutting to think what could have been if I'd made 3 or 4 different 50/50 choices.

I’m still a bit dumbstruck about that game last night. It was so fucking bizarre. First half, if Chelsea could finish we’d be 2 or 3 goals down going in at half time. Second half, god we could have scored 4 or 5. Such a bizarre fucking game of football.

It reminded me a lot of the Spurs game weeks ago, just absolutely dangerously sloppy at times in the midfield.

It's not the biggest issue at the minute, and he does provide pros and cons, but think it's maybe time to move away from deep lying Eriksen in games we can't dominate possession.

Any amount of turnover or transition play exposes his physical weaknesses too much, and leaves Casemiro with an entire midfield to battle on his own.

The lackluster midfield displays over the last couple of months really have me leaning towards a Caicedo/Rice signing to partner Casemiro. Some will say it’s too defensive, but i’d prefer that middle of the park solidity given how well both of those possible signings can carry the ball forward. Would absolutely justify Bruno playing that second striker kind of role as well.

  18. I've always thought Eriksen playing deeper was a bad idea, but also just assumed he was there because they had no better option. I'd imagine another CM is coming to pair with Casemiro and Eriksen will come off the bench.

I always saw it as a "Frenkie de Jong at home" situation. ETHs ideal solution was de Jong as it was really important to him to have someone comfortable accepting the ball from deep and able to progress it forward which tbf, none of our other midfielders could do. In theory Eriksen has the intelligence and passing skills to make it work. And 5 years ago it would have. I think unfortunately his age is catching up with him, plus he looks scared to make a challenge sometimes and that lack of defensive nous really lets us down.

I think that's what's driving the Mount links. In theory, he has better defensive workrate and while his offensive capability isn't as good as Eriksen, he's passable in that regard.

Sometimes it feels like United is one defensive mid and a physio team that can keep their key players healthy for an entire season away from having a monster squad.

Eriksen was pretty great up until his injury. Hasn’t been the same since.

I agree but isn't it just an inverted version of Bayern's new home kit?
