I'm catching PUP tonight, and I've got tickets for The Cure, Gaslight, Interrupters, P-Funk, and Death Grips this summer

Seems like the thought seems to be turning more to PS/dcfc having 1 large combined set. Dunno if Ben just plows straight through, or gets a quick 10 minute breather between bands while Jenny Lewis does some stuff or what. If they do it that way I hope they make it clear which goes first cuz I’m fine skipping death can but do want to see postal service

I didn’t listen to it personally but people who listened to Riot Mike on the radio said he seemed to imply it was going to be one set, and the way they are in the same yellow block on the poster, I have no idea one way or the other, Just another layer of intrigue for this year ha ha

The two albums in full are the big draw of the tour so I was assuming their regular arena shows would be Death Cab - 30 minute break - Postal Service..

I guess you can set both up at once - pretty easy for club shows but I'd imagine that is a pain for arena shows, I just can't picture both playing back to back with no break due to the tech stuff but we'll know the answer when the schedule comes out

.. I may be overthinking this LOL

I’m starting to think it’ll be one big set. Both albums are 45 minutes long, and Death Cab typically plays 90 minutes when they do their own headliner (at least they did when I saw them in October)

EDIT: I don’t recall the exact wording, but Dave said something in an interview with KROQ last year that implied Death Cab would be a part of the Give Up set

I've found interviews where Ben said they would close with the Postal Service album, but nothing to whether or not there would be a break between the two sets

    interview from January
Ben Gibbard talks to Jill Riley about Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service

unless there's a rotating stage maybe, I really don't know how they play back to back with all the tech equipment that has to be changed for each band, tuning, making sure shit is plugged (ask Jeff Rosenstock about that from last year) LOL.. especially considering Warpaint will be opening and there will be a 30 minute break between them & DC on the arena shows

I think I'd do Roots/Riots ... Death Cab - Queens - Postal Service to play it safe, all 3 will have huge crowds and the crowd for Death Cab can stay at the Riot stage and wait for Postal while listening to Queens, is the way to go BUT I guess we will see

Do we think Foos gets 2 hours?

The real question is, would The Cure get 3 hours?

  9. I'm guessing an hour and 45 minutes for Foo Fighters, same as they have at Bonnaroo.

They have them listed playing 2 hours at Boston Calling, the Wimmer fests and some European shows.. it really just all depends on how everything else is scheduled out I think

Jeff Rosenstock playing 9/19, for the peeps staying in Chicago a few more days after Riot

  12. Guster is doing all of Keep It Together at Salt Shed on the 16th, and that conflicting with Postal Service is a gigantic bummer for me.

    Give what you can.

Similar dilemma but with The Cure and Drive by Truckers.

He's got a daunting amount of music! But I've definitely been diving in as I make my playlist.

Am I the only one who finds Frank's more recent efforts lacking?

  19. Not at all. I don't think he's made a great record since Tape Deck Heart, and everything since has ranged from bad to, at best, a few good songs.

Eh, yeah. I liked the more stripped back, raw stuff like Love, Ire and Song. Still a huge talent but those first few records make me happy.

I liked everything up through Tape Deck Heart. After that, it's mostly been misses for me. But I also haven't really followed his albums since the one in 2019 with possibly the worst album cover of all time.

Confession: I occasionally confuse Frank Turner with Ted Leo lol

Fingers crossed for an album play since he is doing it at one of his Anaheim Lost Evenings shows.

I like Positive Songs For Negative People, but since then I have only liked a couple songs from each album

Positive Songs and FTHC both hold up with his old work in my opinion but definitely a rough patch in between there. I like a few songs on Be More Kind but that's about it
