I spend a decent amount of time finding music these days but most of it is outside of this site

 

I mostly just have friends like you, your wife, @Garrett and @CarpetElf who like to consume media and document everything they like, so I get a lot of passive recommendations just off of that haha

Extremely yes

Bubbles can be fun cuz it's a lot of people to talk about things you like with but very restrictive on finding new things

And also makes you feel very ostracized when you don't like whatever "it" thing is in at the moment in the bubble

 

This was me when I found One Ok Rock

 

The only music I listen to these days is the the Kirby and the forgotten land soundtrack.

Because my son is obsessed with Kirby.

 

Kirby is great, the musicianship is awesome

 

I always thought the Kirby map had one of my favorite songs in the excellent soundtrack of Super Smash Brothers Melee

EDIT: Map was called Fountain of Dreams

 

There's like a super fast clarinet solo in it that goes HARD

 

I used to listen to a ton of new music but hardly do anymore. I also need to listen to something like 5-10 times to fully enjoy it. I can’t listen to an album once and have a fully informed opinion.

 

I think an early kirby soundtrack won a Grammy recently and it was just like, a band shredding for twenty minutes lol

 

Some new stuff I listen to hits me hard right away

Some new stuff I listen to is mediocre, but occasionally I'll keep giving that stuff a chance and end up loving it

Some new stuff is bad and turns me off immediately

just depends on the album really. But generally if I don't hate it... I want to give every album at least one start-to-finish chance to leave an impression on me.

 

Something I’ve been listening to help me sleep here and there is the Totoro soundtrack but it’s all on piano and it’s just wonderful.

 

Do you guys think there’s a real Kirby out in the world? I like to think so.

 

I love the all-piano Kiki's Delivery Service soundtrack. In general songs are great on it but there's something about the piano renditions that hit right

 

I am an old geezer about listening to albums start to finish most of the time.

When I make music, the order and the song selection of my albums is going to be extremely deliberate and carefully planned out. Only my best stuff is ever getting recorded and released and I like to long-term envision how the album flows, and make sure each song is going to hit at exactly the right "mood" / time in the album.

It's a thematic experience for me.

 

Did you just describe everyone’s experience listening to something for their first time?

 

Yeah, the piano versions ghibli are just like the acoustic versions of your favorite songs. It’s just super relaxing and catchy.

I’m just more of a playlist listener now — I’ll find new songs I like, add them to a playlist, listen to them over and over until I’m tired of those and I’ve found some new ones to listen to

I used to be able to do a yearly top 30 album list of things that I legitimately enjoyed and listened to 10+ times (and extend to 50 or 100 of things that I liked), and now that’s closer to a top 5 and probably 50-100 songs that I’ve listened to a bunch (plus more listening to older things I know I like as opposed to almost exclusively listening to new music)

 

I really REALLY hope not.

 

I have the problem where I discover so many good bands so often that I’ll forget I discovered them sometimes lol

 

Is it because you’re afraid of what’s under his shoes?
