    run away with me Platinum

Watching a 2 hour Sorkin movie is enough for me no way can I handle how ever many episodes the Newsroom is

Maybe consider watching more than just a clip

The only Sorkin I clip that matters.

  5. I didn't know people dislike Sorkin, I unironically enjoy The West Wing

  6. Yeah, I really love Sports Night and The West Wing. Loved The Newsroom while it was airing too, but I get how that one especially wouldn't hold up. Studio 60 is a mess with good moments. I wish he would go back to TV considering his recent movie work is far from his best.

I don't dislike his stuff, but it is super cornball aimed at white liberals that want to feel smart. Sports Night and The West Wing are very nostalgic and comforting for me.

He’s a good writer and also a bit of a tool

I think there is a very good argument to be made that he writes women really poorly and he definitely recycles lines of dialogue very frequently in his stuff. I think the West Wing sucks ass and was actively damaging for an entire generation of voters, Newsroom is just annoying and Chicago 7 or whatever was dumb.

He can be dismissive about writing women. I saw him at a Q&A and he was asked about the critique of his female characters and gave a non-answer about having daughter so he thinks about women.

normally i would agree with that advice but i can only think of a few shows where watching more than just clips seems like a worse idea than the newsroom, a show that seemed written to exist solely in clip form

I do think “The Social Network” is a masterpiece.

That has more to do with Fincher than Sorkin imo

I don’t mind him, but I hate how basically every character he writes comes off as “the smartest guy in the room”. They always have that perfect little rejoinder for every conversation. It ends up feeling like a bunch on slight variations of the same person talking to each other. It was particularly grating in the Trial of the Chicago Seven.

    I like Moneyball a lot.

Also West Wing can be laughably bad at points, but there is still something about it that makes it watchable despite that, that I think Newsroom lacks.
