the lyrics are fine

 

I think the lyrics might actually be the best part of this. They aren't as good as lose IMO but still really good. Sandy and wish in particular

 

I love this and LOSE for different reasons and I don't think I could pick a favorite between the two. Very much enjoy Lenses Alien and think WTAM is a fine indie-rock album

 

All of the lyrics are really good story telling and I feel like it fits the album theme really well. It gives it a really nostalgic feel. Songs like Wish, Close, and 4th of July make me feel like I'm watching a movie

 

cinematic is a good way to describe this album i feel, so i get what you mean

 

might be seeing them tomorrow in seattle. dope.

So after listening to the album a few more times, it's definitely grown on me some. Obviously it's a much different sound than Lose, but I think it's great as it's own piece.

 

what are a few of their better/more popular songs off the first three albums? don't have enough time to listen to the whole discography before the show tonight, but i wanna become acquainted with a few more songs. just got into them with pretty years.

 

definitely listen to jackson and warning at the very least

 

they probably won't play anything off of lenses alien, but ...and the hazy sea, jackson, warning, and chambers are probably likely

 

based on the set on setlistfm the only song pre-lose is and the hazy sea

yeah that was the only one i saw so i threw it out there, figured the possibility existed they might have something else that i just hadn't seen since i last checked like some other WTAM song or maybe aerobed

 

so i'll listen to ...and the hazy sea and then i can probably make enough time to get through lose. cool.

 

based on what they play live, i would just spin LOSE once or twice

I want to hear what a fan of pretty years thinks after hearing hazy sea for the first time, haha

 

new to this band and this has been growing on me. Sandy is probably my favorite at this point

 

I love LOSE and Why There Are Mountains. I havent listened to this in awhile and gave it another listen. Doesnt seem to stick as much. I really like Finally, Dancing Days, and July 4th, but everything else just isnt really my vibe. I prefer the guitar-heavy Modest Mousey CEB

 

Do you like Lenses Alien at all? Do you like this more than LA? Just curious!

and thank you to @cwhit for telling me to get here early enough to catch the openers. wildhoney and field mouse were both fantastic.

 

Until literally just now I thought the last lyric in Shrine was, "Now I know why I'm alive," instead of "Never know while I'm alive" and that knowledge definitely changes how I view the last part of the song, haha.

 

I think I gotta accept that lose is the only ceg album I really love. About half of this one is good, with a couple tracks being career bests, but overall it's just okay to me. Shame. Oh well
