95 is cute in Maryland also, dqm. And it’s genuinely not as bad as it used to be. Traffic got way better in the DMV post pandemic and it still feels like a lot less than it was in 2014-2015. I left Baltimore yesterday at like 6:35pm and got to the open mic in central DC and parked by 7:29, hit virtually zero extra traffic in either city

When you’re from north Florida, seeing any amount of scenery on the highway is nice lol. Driving around the Deep South is god damn depressing

the only thing I think of when someone mentions driving through CT is passing the Bridgeport Bass Pro Shops which is like the size of a D1 college stadium.

    lmaoooo

driving in Florida is terrible in general. That’s why everyone goes 90 miles an hour. You get so antsy just going directly straight with no hills and seeing only pine trees for an hour in a spread out, ugly ass state that has no mass transit

it literally did feel like that. i drove in a straight line for 3 hours and suddenly was in the parking lot of the hotel.

like there’s beautiful spots in Florida but none of them are on the way to anything. Every long drive is through the 90% of the state that fucking sucks lol

The entire state of Connecticut was a mistake once you drive it

the NYC skyline is pretty undefeated though. no matter how many times i see it, when I drive home over the Throggs Neck Bridge I always nearly get into a fender bender bc im distracted by looking at the skyline lol

North Florida driving is just rows of pine trees for six hours, 1000 speed traps, and an exit sign that says "highest point in Florida ahead" and it's like 300 feet.

My hottest take in this thread, it seems, is that Connecticut is actually beautiful.

I haven’t spent much time in the cities and tbh I’m not that curious about fuckin Hartford CT lol. BUT, if I wanted to live somewhere more rural, the countryside of CT is pretty great for still being accessible to both NY and Boston

New England in general has pristine countryside between its cities

there are very nice areas of CT if youre into nature and hiking and outdoorsy stuff, but simply for driving purposes it is useless.

also please do not be curious about hartford

Nicest state I've driven through is Montana.

Scariest state I've driven through is also Montana.

Oregon and California are close seconds in beauty.

Driving around the winding hilly roads through some incredible forested area in central CT (near Waterbury) is a memory that will stick in my mind. That was the OG absolutepunk meet-up lol, me and 3 other music forum folks were in that car (circa 2010). And we went to one of the dudes’ home studio, and then we went go karting. Fuckin awesome

Also if you've never been to Pittsburgh it's pretty crazy not seeing the city at all and then driving through the Tunnel and bam there's Pittsburgh

the two guys that lived in CT are actually still in a band, they’re called Wess Meets West and they’re a very professional indie rock / post rock band

the other friend is the one who was in those videos I posted a few weeks ago of us covering Northstar & Lawrence Arms
