almost every time i've seen him live since the new record come out (so like five times lol) he's stumbled over something. losing tempo on piano player or messing up the fills in dendron are the most common things i see

 

I like it too, he kind of reminds me of the starting line drummer, writes cool parts but struggles with tempo a bit live

 

He gave me an extra copy of the Told Slant tour poster cus he couldn't get them apart

 

They didn't have my size for the shirt I wanted so he dug out the leftover merch from the US tour they had just been on and sold that to me instead but at half price.

 

Their drummer is w/e. He gets the job done, but doesn't do anything particularly interesting

 

the drumming in Soft Animal and You In This Light are both very interesting imo

 

yeah the drumming in the back half of Soft Animal is top notch

 

It's not all that thought provoking to me. Not saying he's bad though. He reminds me of Zach Lind of Jimmy Eat World: occasionally does something interesting, but most of the time just gets the job done

 

the drum tone on the album is fantastic though. im gonna pull the snare from the end of end of reel and use it in my production.

 

i'm not calling out his drumming on record at all i just say he stumbles over parts live more often than many other drummers i've seen

 

He's a great drummer on the record, but he's just a really really bad drummer live.

 

lol I wouldn't say really really bad. I just think he's bad with tempo at times lol

they're the worst live band on the tour but the songs are so good it doesn't matter much

 

Bummer, but I'm hoping seeing Joyce Manor finally gets me into them.

 

also crying. crying's new record is going to be unreal

 

Oh good, if I fall in love with Crying, it's the perfect time to jump in!

 

I'm seeing them in a fucking tiny venue, so I've been wondering for months how songs like Goodness, Pt 2. will sound.

 

I thought they sounded great when I saw them. Only think I noticed is Jayde (or Jade?) messed up in Scope Of All Of This Rebuilding but whatever. I feel like when your actually at the show you don't notice the fast tempos as much as in live videos. At least that's how it is for me anyway.
