It’s nice to see them still rehearsing AFTER the Coachella shows. Old Tom probably wouldn’t lol

Is it that much of a conspiracy when they've used this exact rationale to release an album before lol

I just wish Green Day would release an album on the 75th day of the year once

I just can’t imagine them doing something as free wheeling as Zane.

Was thinking the same. That'd be really cool!

WMAA is in standard tuning and never needed a capo, tbh. I’ve played it both ways. I think part of it was that they would play Going Away To College before it and that one does use a capo on the 2nd fret. Beyond that, the only advantage to using the capo for WMAA would be to just literally have your fret hand closer to the 9th and 11th frets. Make the jump from power chords to the main riff a little easier with it being so fast.

I can’t think of any other reasons.

I too would LOVE a Zane Lowe interview. The most-recent Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and The 1975 interviews are some of my favorites ever. But yeah, I don't see this band doing that type of interview. Color me surprised if they do though!

I replied first and said it was because they used to play the song a full step higher back in the day (when he used the capo), but then I realized even that doesn’t justify it because there aren’t even open notes in that song.

Only thing I can think is that in addition to what you said about the setlist placement, the capo would relieve some tension on the strings when he played the song two frets higher. There’s not really a necessity for it no matter what though.

Can you post a video of them playing it a full step higher? I’ve never seen that.

Those artwork wallpapers are sick but they don’t play nice with the iOS lock screen widgets lol

They used to play it this way virtually every time pre-hiatus (including on the MT&T Show). Someone posted an old video in here recently of them playing it in its original key circa 2000 and that was one of the rare instances of that happening until after they reunited. As far as I know, he never used a capo when playing it in its original key.
