Yup, it's not as good as Cheat Codes, but it's still amazing!

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

yeah the new Thought is pretty good. on the lower end of his output which means it's just good and not one of the best albums of the year. that song with the beat slowing down and speeding up like Tick Tick is phenomenal though

De La Soul added to the Wu-Tang/Nas tour that I'm already going to!

Now I REALLY need to get to their discography

The El Michels Affair/Black Thought album has proved that it’s the year of the fucking great collabs. There’s that, Larry June/Alchemist, Madlib/Meyhem Lauren/DJ Muggs and Danny Brown/Jpegmafia all within a month and a bit too.

the talking/dialogue in the middle takes up a lot of the under 3-minute runtime, but I really like the rest haha. Feels like a classic Jay-z style beat and flow

    hey you lil piss baby

new one from Ugandan rapped Mc Yallah came out on Friday. this is pretty far out from most of the stuff that gets posted in here and and likely won't be everyone's speed but figured it was worth sharing if even one person discovers it. out on the Nyege Nyege Tapes sub-label Hakuna Kuala. abrasive production that skews more towards experimental club music than traditional hip-hop, features Lord Spikeheart from industrial/noise/grindcore band Duma. the whole thing is great but the four tracks produced by Scotch Rolex are the highlights for me. music to run through a brick wall to.

I actually know some Ugandan rap because my best friend from college was from Uganda (and went back there again after college). The stuff he showed me all sounded like club oriented days mainstream American rap though really.

I really like the talking haha. It didn't really give me Ja vibes personally (aside from the sample obviously), though I guess lyrically it does now that you mention it.

Went to Lil Wayne's small venue tour tonight and he put on an absolutely incredible show. Surreal to see him so close

I love them and the blog era was/is interesting to conceptually, but also 2007-2012, the era which they cover, is probably the worst era of rap music? Then again, that mostly applies to mainstream rap music, whereas as the blogs precisely provided an alternative to that

thanks for coming to my ted talk

I have a soft spot for that era because 07 was when I finally stopped being ignorant toward rap in high school, but I also don’t know if I agree if it’s any worse than now in terms of mainstream rap

Really wanted to go to this but it sold out before it ever officially went on sale and secondary tickets were going for $700. Glad to hear he put on a good performance.
