is it the same for you? Prestigious

Imagine having songs as good as "Under The Sun" and "Black Magic" and not finding a way to get them into your setlist.

    Things have changed.

In lieu of playing the whole new album, I could stomach cutting a few to sneak in "Black Magic" and "Brave"

Did he say why TK isn't in the live band on this run?

Pretty sure he mentioned TK didn’t want to tour anymore a while ago. He wasn’t on the shape and destroy tour in 2021, either

    Things have changed.

He said in a VIP session that he made a decision not to have TK or Abby on this album as something he needed to do in terms of moving his music forward. But would never rule out a return for them.

And yeah, TK was only on a few shows of the last tour anyway.

Thank you very very much ! Having to drive 2 hours to the show after a half day at work had me anxious. I appreciate you !

After loving this new album (and it being the album to finally get me into Ruston Kelly) I have spent the weekend diving hard into Dying Star and I am so mad I didn't get into it when it was released. This album is so god damn good.

  11. unreal how good that album is, especially for a debut - not all of them arrive fully-formed but it really is all there

and then the next two are even better

Dying Star is a damn masterpiece.

Dying Star remains by far my favorite thing he's done. Just one of the most raw, honest albums I've ever heard. The run from "Anchors" to "Dying Star" is one of my favorite five-song runs ever.

After spending time with the new record, it is really hard for me to decide which of his three albums I love the most.

Dying Star is my favorite as a whole album experience.

Shape & Destroy is my favorite as it relates to the individual songs.

The Weakness is my favorite stylistically.

It's really incredible how consistent he is. I haven't fallen in love with a singer-songwriter like this since Julien Baker.

The Weakness is probably the weakest of the three for me (see that pun?!), mostly because I find it a little bit weaker (lol) in the melody department and miss the country/Americana touches of the first two. Still a really solid album, though.

Yeah my biggest issue is that so many melodies on this one feel very basic/familiar. Unfortunately finding myself pretty disappointed with this one overall. Dying Star is an all time favorite album though for sure.

I think everyone sleeps on the Halloween EP, including Ruston himself. That album has some INCREDIBLE songs on it and he barely plays them live

I felt like he really found some earworms on Shape & Destroy, and while there are a couple here ("Michael Keaton" most notably) I did find it a step back in that area. Fortunately, for me, the album mostly makes up for that lyrically and with some cool sonic/production decisions.

I think The Weakness is more consistent than Shape and Destroy but SADs highlights are a tad bit higher than The Weakness highs, IMO.

New album has a bit more of that overly produced / double tracked vocal thing he does, that I don't really love. I think all of these songs will be better live than on album.

I love this album immensely but I definitely think it's my least favorite after having it for three months. Seeing him Saturday, excited to hear these new ones!

  23. Saw him Monday in DC. Show was incredible despite several interruptions for technical issues.

Haven't been able to stop listening to the album since the show. I've had a hard time getting fully invested in new music over the last couple years, so it feels good to be head over heels for a new album again.

Also grabbed Dying Star on vinyl at the show, which was a nice surprise since it's sold out on his website. I hadn't checked it out much until the week or so leading up to the show, but now I'm wondering why I waited so long!
