There's a reason Dunkin' got rid of the Donuts in their name. But also they hit the spot when you're just in the mood for a donut.
Starbucks on the other hand has abysmal food

 

Dunkin always fucks up my coffee order if I get coffee and their breakfast sandwiches are weak as hell

 

one time I got a cappuccino from there and it must’ve been the girl’s first day because what I got was some really terrible black coffee and I still think about it

 

from my experience it could've just as easily been the manager. the service at dunks is so terrible anymore, it's about even with Popeye's level

 

I feel like the service is either excellent or they have no idea what mobile orders are, I wouldn't have it any other way

 

I'm pretty sure they all just hit the button on the mobile order receipt printer to get the beeping to stop and then don't look at it until you come in and ask for your order

 

Every restaurant that has a to go app or takes online orders or whatever, should have a separate kitchen to handle those orders (like a lot of chipotles do now). The jersey mikes near me is notoriously slow and you just watch them make other peoples sandwiches. I don't like to order to go there as I HATE when the bread gets soggy and mushy and I don't trust that they'll make it exactly for my pick up time and that it will sit and be inedible (to me).

They need to have a counter for serving customers who are there live, and make the to go orders in a little side kitchen.

 

while great in theory those places can't stay staffed as is because they pay shit wages

 

I'll take the food at Starbucks over the food at dunkin, pretty comfortably. Dunkin has those hash browns which are fine, but the rest is putrid. Very low bar though. The most I get at either place is a breakfast sandwich or a cheese danish. Dunkin probably has the worst fast food eggs on the planet.

 

The egg bites at Starbucks are pretty darn good in a pinch.

 

Ill slam those egg bites with roasted red peppers in a pinch any day of the week

 

I'll get a Dunkin cold brew in a pinch but I've avoided them for the longest time otherwise. I used to fuck with their bacon egg & cheese croissants since their bagels are garbage. I'd much rather go to a local breakfast sandwich spot these days for real quality bagels. I prefer their munchkins to their actual donuts too.

 

To get back to controversy, and this isn't aimed at anything you said, but ever since I found a local bagel spot, I'm addicted to it and will go out of my way now to go there. I think I've tried about 10 different types of bagels and combos...

However - Cream cheese sucks. I don't mind it like mixed in something, but on a bagel when it's meant to be sharing the stage... yuck. I don't care what brand or place or flavor but just cream cheese on a bagel is so unappealing to me. BLT/ Bacon egg & cheese, pastrami, sausage, whatever. All of that is preferable on a bagel to just cream cheese. I have a buddy who I go to concerts and go out drinking with and it's so frustrating trying to get a decent breakfast when hungover. All he wants to do is pound a couple of cream cheese plain bagels. No thanks.
