I don’t care that one rich person is making less than another rich person and I’m surprised anyone does

I think people are losing sight of the fact that there is a massive pay gap in Hollywood. Sure, she may be “young” and in her first “lead” but it’s still a leading role, no?

Also just the general idea in capitalism that one person can make 10x more than another for doing the same work because they’re famous or whatever. The scale of wage inequality we have in this country is a huge problem and yeah there are bigger fish to fry first than Hollywood actors buts it’s all part of the same problem

Like yeah actors and athletes get paid too much in comparison to us, but not in comparison to the billions in wealth that they generate for their employers. So the real issue is the money being made by corporations from our labor through things like giant tax breaks for filming locations or cities paying for stadiums and other attractions.

Let’s also not forget that multimillionaires are still not even close to one billionaire. It’s a non issue what talent in these industries get paid until things are addressed from the top down. Talent should be getting the max they can as long as they put their share back into our government like everyone else.

Yeah I was going to say if this gap is in line with what it is typically for a "new" male lead and an "established star" male lead then I understand asking what is the big deal but I had not seen if that was the case or not.

Whatever the studio owners and producers and board members are making off this show while having absolutely nothing to do with making it is the real crime

I wonder if she’s still the highest paid on the show or if Millie passed her now. If Finn stayed center of the story instead of being more to the side I’m guessing he woulda had a chance to make more than her by now too

The Big C finally got my ass. I tried to get Paxlovid from Teladoc but he shut that down quickly and only suggested Vitamins C and D and saline spray. Is Paxlovid only for higher risk people? So happy California got rid of supplemental sick time. I'll probably be fine, but if my girlfriend gets it, it's not going to be good.

Ok lets put it into a different example. Two accountants get hired for the exact same job, one is male and one is female. The male accountant deserves 10x as much money just because he's been in the workforce a little longer?

If he's also bringing a book of business with him, and the female accountant is not, or is bringing a much smaller book, then possibly.

But this whole discussion is nonsense because NO ONE ACTUALLY KNOWS HOW MUCH BELLA RAMSEY IS MAKING!!!

I was able to get Paxlovid last week in MA by calling my doctor and telling her what was going on. She sent a script for it to my pharmacy. I didn't even have to go in for a visit.

the discussion is interesting because it shows at what point do people defend wealth inequality for the same labor

That's pretty much how things work, yeah. If you are more experienced, then you generally get paid more, and also if you are coming from another job, you can use that salary for leverage to get more. It's always a negotiation.

We're also talking about acting, which also has star power, name identity, and agents. It will make a difference.

Most career jobs are like that. Even trade jobs are like - contractors don't all charge the same, you often pay for the more experienced and better quality ones.

As an example, if you get hired to be a Software Engineer, there will be a salary range for that role. Both people don't get paid the same. The exception might be if its for a graduate with no experience.

Edit - and obviously 10x more is again related to the industry. It's not a "normal" industry. Lets say you want Katy Perry to play your birthday party, she'll cost about $2mil. Now lets say you want Now, Now to play. I'd guess they'd cost about $2-5k. It's just not the same as being an accountant.
