Sure technically those are similar elements. I just don't really care for the songwriting and I don't disagree with whoever said it just feels very Imagine Dragons-ish. Church especially. Not for me at all.

I am probably the worst person to ask about this, as I am hardly an audiophile. But it sounded fine to me. Filled up the space nicely. (For context, I am running an audio-technica AT LP3 through a pro-ject audio pre amp and audioengine A5 speakers.)

Maybe I don’t know Imagine Dragons well enough, but I feel like the DNA of the band is unaffected by the production choices. Patrick’s vocals and Pete’s lyrics in the latter half of Bishops Knife Trick hit me as hard as they do in The (After)life of the Party, for instance.

 

Should I try to listen to this album again? Didn’t really grab me through the first 6 songs

 

Yes. The run of tracks 3, 4, 5, and 6 is just phenomenal. Just make sure you're listening to it loud enough, it deserves to be blasted.

someone needs to hype you up for this the way they did for me like 2 days before it came out. I was kinda like "I want nothing to do with this, blah" and now, I can't stop listening almost 2 weeks later.

 

If Imagine Dragons have a song even half as good as "Church" then someone please point me to it. I've apparently been missing out.
