I’m pretty sure I was left home alone once I was 10. Even before that my friend and I could wander around the park with no supervision.

 

I had to be like 8 or so when I could stay home alone. Can’t imagine thinking a 13 year old couldn’t be home alone for a day.

 

Yea, honestly it was probably younger than 10 if I really think about it. I feel bad for these kids, they’re going to grow up with no independence.

 

We were definitely at home alone by age 10. My parents worked. Live in a VERY small village. We were taught to call the “fire number” when we didn’t have 911 out here yet. My parents were on the fire dept (now the same one that I’m the EMS Coordinator for) because they knew if I called and said that my house was on fire but there was really a possible break in, 30 guys and 6 fire trucks would be there in less than 5 minutes and the lights and sirens would hopefully deter “the bad guy” and they’d call the cops from the radio.

I’m only 35 by the way, saying “before 911 was out here” made me feel 95.

Starting to see a giant split in the Republican party with the Trump/Election Denier faction and the DeSantis/Anti-Vaxxer, Open the Schools faction at least here in Michigan.
