That hearing is nuts, its wild seeing Republicans tie themselves in knots to support a company that they hate.

 

What makes you think republicans hate Starbucks? Sure they use fancy coffee to mock liberals but they accept their donations and agree with trying not to regulate them.

They use them as a easy culture war cudgel, so sure backend wise they love the cash, but to their base they are the enemy. There is a fucking blowup every year about their stupid fucking cups.

Why does this guy have to be a part of the New Democrat Coalition? He has some awesome lines in these committees.

 

Honestly, this Starbucks stuff is a fantastic opportunity to point out unionizing rules and the more people that wanna poke the bourgeoisie in the eye with it, the better.

 

There was a Republican that did say $17/hr is not a living wage in this Starbucks hearing as well. I had to rewind it twice to make sure I heard him correctly.

 

Also that unionizing would rule a lot more if laws against union busting actually had more teeth. The whole reason this happens is these big companies are happy to pay fines while blatantly violating labor law

 

People should start stealing the magazines off those guns and run off with them.

 

I actually talked to my union rep yesterday about wanting to get involved in helping unionize the cannabis industry in the area.

 

One day after posting this my Dad just called to say he was just diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully its super small and hopefully can be removed easily, however, our first few thoughts went to how much it'll cost. It was a real Hallmark moment when I got to say: "well like you always told, throw those medical bills right into the trash."

We’ve sorta anticipated this was coming and everything we’ve read has told us that IF you had to be diagnosed with cancer, this is def on the lesser aggressive scale. It still is scary, but he’s in positive spirits.
