I've listened to this about 3 times now. while not my favorite record of theirs, there's definitely some fun stuff here. my two favorite songs so far are the title track and what a time to be alive

So I realized I'd never really taken the time to listen to any of FOB's b-sides before, and decided it's a fun time to rectify that.

I took all the b-sides that are on Spotify, put them on a playlist, used a random list generator to mix them up, and let it roll. And actually, it flows pretty well IMO, although not having heard these songs before probably helps. The poppier numbers actually help the older cuts shine more, if that makes sense.

Anyway, this is how the list ended up, if anyone feels like giving it a go:

    01. ""From Now On We Are Enemies""
    02. "Bob Dylan"
    03. "Lake Effect Kid"
    04. "G.I.N.A.S.F.S."
    05. "Super Fade"
    06. "It's Hard To Say "I Do", When I Don't"
    07. "The Music Or The Misery"
    08. "Dear Future Self (Hands Up)"
    09. "I've Been Waiting"
    10. "Alpha Dog"
    11. "Snitches And Talkers Get Stitches And Walkers"
    12. "Beat It"
    13. "City In A Garden"

Probably the nostalgia, probably where I am in life and some personal shit I got going on, but this album is bringing the waterworks.

Also, if you like IOH and FAD, there’s zero reason to not like at least some of this. Haters.

From Now On We Are Enemies is definitely one of my favorite Fall Out Boy b-side. Really great song. I used to listen to it like a bonus track for Folie a Deux, I thought it would have fit great there.

I remain angry that Pavlove is so hard to access/that it wasn’t just included on Folie a Deux proper.

Folie has been my favorite of theirs basically since it came out, but I think (recency bias, yes, etc) this might well become my favorite of theirs. Just feels like outstanding work overall.

“From Now On We Are Enemies” is easily the best b-side but yeah, “Pavlove” always gets shafted since it became so hard to find. Sucks.

Dear Future Self & Super Fade may well be my two least favorite Fall Out Boy songs. That stretch after Mania definitely shook my faith a little.

That second verse of It’s Hard to Say “I Do” when I Don’t is probably the best example of one of IOH’s central themes, a fear of commitment. I think it’s an essential step along the way in understanding Pete’s perspective and its shift between IOH & FAD.

And my last b-side hot take is that The Music or the Misery, Snitches and Talkers, GINASFS, IHTSIDWID & Pavlove would each be the coolest guitar tracks on their respective albums if they made the cut.

I'm not sure how many of these songs I love on the first few listens, but it's such a fun album that I feel I'm going to keep coming back to it very often.

I almost feel like they could have saved Lake Effect Kid for this album. it would've fit on perfectly

    Fight the long defeat.

A few years ago I reordered Folie's tracklist (blasphemy to some, I know - and honestly to me too in most cases) to end with Coffee's for Closers, and I've liked the way it flows much better for that.

I don’t believe in reordering albums. The album is what it is.

I could make a playlist of the songs I like, but I’m generally not a playlist person. I generally choose an artist and go through their whole discography. Obvious exceptions are a new album or if I am really just wanting to vibe with a certain album due to what’s going on in my life at the moment.

I found a bass tab for an unreleased FOB song today. I can’t find it anywhere online. Wonder how this guy found it.

I mostly love this record and it makes me really happy to say that, as I haven’t been a fan of most of the output (minus a song here or there) since they came back and just figured it’d stay that way.

Fake Out and Kintsugi Kid are in a dead heat for my favourites right now. literally can't decide, both are so much better than I ever would've expected lmao

the "do you laugh about me whenever I leave, or do I just need more therapy" line in Fake Out kinda hits a little too close to home. Pete can't keep getting away with this
