  1. I Am My Own Muse has massive BBEG Disney song energy

I find this so much more interesting after the first three songs. Definitely the most I've liked a FOB record since FUtCT, though.

I Am My Own Muse kind of reminds me of Bang! by AJR. Which is funny because when I first heard that song I thought it sounded like what FOB might be making if they had an album that year (last year?)

So far, So Much (For) Stardust, is my absolute FAVORITE song on this album. Perfectly outlines the last 3 years of my life.

    Fucking incredible!

Fake Out is my favorite at the moment. Constantly changing favorite song is a great sign. Love it!

I could see "What a Time to Be Alive" getting absolutely huge.

I've been seeing a lot of hate on "So Good Right Now" on YouTube reviews and such. I don't get it, so infectious!

After only one listen and aside from the two singles, ten years, fake out, and what a time were the songs that resonated with me the most.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Bear with me as I work through this word vomit and my thoughts regarding this, as I’ve been kicking this around my head for a little while, but I feel like we’re finally seeing the a macro impact on how quarantine has an impacted a lot of our favorite artists, and how they interact with their legacies and approach to songwriting. It feels like over the last year and a half, many artist that had to have established careers that are taking a step back explicitly assessing their answer to the question “what does our band represent” or “what is our band“. Seeing the social impact on artistic endeavors has been interesting to watch, as a lot of bands are harking back to what makes the band the band rather than expanding their sound explicitly. I feel like we saw this in the 1975, Coheed and Cambria, and now Fall Out Boy.

I’m sure other people can elaborate more eloquently than I can, but my armchair psychologist brain recognizes there to be an almost meta approach in how these bands are approaching the music they’re writing, dropping some of the more ambitious and out there tendencies to hone in on what works for what the band represents and building from there. Some of the best records of their careers are being produced and I’m all for it!

this is most likely me projecting my own worldview onto how I’m interacting with their art lol, but I can’t help to shake the feeling that I’m seeing a commonality between a lot of my favorite artists approach

The amount of hate the 60 second interludes are getting is very funny to me.

Logged in for the first time in a while to say, this album is soooo good.

Not sure if it's better than folie or sr&r yet, but god damn. Already teared up twice listening to it. The amount of goose pimples I got during Heaven, Iowa is off the charts.

Love it, will have it on repeat all day.

All these posts about this being the best FOB album since FAD, and here I am as someone whose genuine favorite from them is SR&R… :pantherworried:

Anyways, this is very good! Very much so in the pocket of what I like about them. So many cool lil details and massive hooks.

    hysterical and useless

This is a really astute observation. the wonder years did the same and there was a lot of talk about exactly what you're saying here in their documentary. Bands really making a conscious effort to distill the "best version of their sound"

I was dancing around like a fool to "So good right now" getting ready for work this morning. That hasn't happened in a very very long time.
