great closer too! very happy with this overall. already their most consistent for me since FUTCT.

  2. Reality Bites soundbite is good, I should rewatch that. "I Am My Own Muse" is nuts, very mid-aughts emo-pop ("Thnks Fr Th Mmrs," "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," "Bird From a Worm").

Last time I'll harp on it, but Queen was not the vibe I was expecting going into this record, and there's not a bad thing.

one of my favorite rock records of the decade - Japanese band but incredible, pop funk fusion with orchestral elements

Joe shreds all over this. King shit really.

  7. Don't love the lyrics on "What a Time to Be Alive" but the Earth, Wind, and Fire vibes are pretty immaculate

    RIP Supporter

Secretly a little bummed Baby Annihilation wasn’t like a grindcore song or something lol but overall this is the most I’ve liked a FOB record on first listen since FAD

    Their best hit:miss ratio since...Folie?

Biggest "holy shit" moments for me are "Grudge", "Heaven, Iowa" and "I Am My Own Muse" (which along w Queen most obviously reminds me of....Muse, lol)

  13. Damn, title track is so good. Yeah, a few songs I'm hoping will grow on me (mostly stretch of "Hold Me Like a Grudge" through "Heaven, Iowa") but I really, really enjoyed the rest of this. The arrangements (and not just the orchestral moments) really give it a weight this band hasn't had since Folie. Good stuff.

There's moments on this that are pure delicious. Some songs sound straight out of a Broadway production and I mean this in a great way.

  16. Love From the Other Side's intro is still just SO good. fuck.
