I mean I never heard of them till I saw them at lolla. Also they went from playing 5/6k cap venues last tour to Arenas next tour. If they weren’t on their radar before they have to be now. I could see them being a headliner in the future for either lolla or riot. They had the 4:15-5:15 spot on T-Mobile last year at lolla and the crowd was massive

Not a Tool fan at all so it would be a whatever booking to me but on a post about the Louder Than Life lineup on the Riot sub this was commented so…maybe?

I also agree about newer/fresh alt acts. Like Pitchfork has its repeats just as Riot does but they sprinkle in fresh/exciting/new acts alongside those repeats which make it one of the more unique festival lineups each year.

Getting relatively newer acts like Idles/King Gizzard/Maneskin would definitely be cool for this festival. Also I have touched on this before but there are lots of indie rock/punk acts out there that both Lolla and Pitchfork would not touch (Charly Bliss is a great example) that Lolla should tap into. They’ve come close in the past, booking acts like Bully, Best Coast, Beach Bunny, Kississippi, Ratboys, and a few others, but they could definitely tap in more and make like a cool fun stage out of it.

If Riot deviates too much, a lot of people that fly in will find other festivals in other cities to go to.. or maybe I'm the old man yelling at the sky

I guess it depends how far into a different direction they go whether I'd still fly out. It's my favorite weekend of the year every year now, it's very similar to how I felt when I was a teenager waiting all year for Warped Tour

yea i can only swing one travel for a fest weekend a year and by this point riot has built up enough good will for me, going 7 for 7 in lineups ive loved/attended so theyve earned my loyalty as a brand, so while LTL is rad and has my interest piqued, im not bailing until theres a line up that just doesnt do it for me... at some point i should branch out merely for the sake of variety.. what would you guys say is top fest based purely on its unique location/setting, like furnace fest seems rad in the industrial setting, and im sure some of those edm fest have cool set ups in forrests and such, but im sure im forgetting something.

Riot can count on my hard earned dollars until I don't live in Chicago anymore (or they move to a suburb). I'm in the same boat as @KindaFatMike - they've build up enough brand equity that I'd buy 3 day passes blind, trusting itll be something I like. If I didn't live here, it might be a different story, but I would still highly consider it.

Go to a show in Chicago without seeing a Riot Fest shirt challenge

It's tough!! I'm pretty sure I see one at every show I go to. I personally don't own one but and this is painting with a broad brush but I feel like it's mostly normies who go to RF and like 1 other show a year.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, and we live in Pennsylvania. We'll buy blind every year no matter what. I trust I'll have a good time and it'll be worth the cost.

wearing riot fest shirts to shows in chicago is the new wearing a band's shirt to their show

Riot has become my favorite festival ever, its community is like no other and their lineups are always amazing. I remember seeing 2016 lineup and telling to myself "I have to go next year no matter who plays" and then they hit me with a Jawbreaker reunion. I bought my ticket in a hesrtbeat.

Im curious to go to other festival like Furnace or this year Louder Than Life, but Riot having The Postal Service for me is enough to have me back in Chicago

Btw, I don't think Riot is deviating from what they do any time remotely soon. When I said if they ever deviate, I should've used all caps lol

They usually to an early bird sale around Christmas time but didn’t last year. General on sale is April/may when they announce the lineup

    Wonder if they’ll even do a presale…

  22. I don't think they'll put tickets up this year without a location confirmed, and probably not before the lineup announcement.

In case people forget, in 2021 people were sure RF won't happen up until like a month before the event. I'm sure that even if they don't have the location locked yet they have everything else they need. It's not their first time running a festival, they know what they are doing.

Yeah, and there's also been years in the past where the location wasn't quite locked until fairly soon before the announcement too. Let's not forget that. LOL

It'll be fine. We'll get an announcement in mid-May with tickets on-sale within a day or two after that as always.

I went to the first Furnace Fest back instead of Riot... And then immediately went back to Riot in 2022. It wasn't that Furnace Fest was bad either, I loved it. Riot Fest just can't be beaten. I'm surrounded by people that make me feel the most like myself, & it's the best
