Chase This Light is Jimmy Eat World's best album, far and away.

 

when that album was released I think this wouldve been super unpopular. now, not so much but it definitely still has its detractors.

it has the best song JEW ever wrote though

Chase this Light is my fave. It has Dizzy. And other good songs.

 

Dizzy is their best closer by a long shot

 

It's their last album to really strike a chord with me that's for sure

 

I thought I was definitely on the unpopular side with that one. Awesome to see most everyone else loves it!

 

I didn't love Invented right away but it grew on me and I it. Invented (the song) is so fun especially when it hits the THERE'S A CINEMATIC END. I really love Damage too. "Either you're just bad at cheating or there's something your heart you wished I knew." Like byyyyyyyye let me just die here of sadness

 

Clarity, Damage, and Chase This Light are the best

It's their last really good album but it's not their best by a long shot.

 

Jimmy eat world is my fave but I don't care for Clarity so there's that. I mean it's fine but I'm not gonna put it on myself.

 

it sounds nothing like major minor to me i hate that record. it doesnt sound like beggars. just like every thrice album, it has its very own sonic identity.

 

exactly. its extremely fucking heavy. tons of heft to that record. and it slots in great next to artist and vheissu cuts live.

Yeah that album has as much muscle as anything I've heard this year. He just doesn't scream and they don't play as fast as they used to back when they were "heavy".

 

Whistleblower knocks me on my fucking ass every time

 

"Whistleblower" (and "The Window") both sound like they'd fit right in on the Fire disc of Alchemy Index. The same can be said for "Salt and Shadow" and the Air disc.

"Wake Up" is the laziest song on the album and sounds like it should be on Beggars, which is sad because I didn't like Beggars all that much.

 

Beggars is clearly their best, and only great, album

I'll say Beggars is their best. I strongly disagree with "only great album."

On another note, does anyone else not like listening to music on a full bladder? Especially if it's a new highly anticipated record. I gotta relieve myself first.

 

'Circles' is my favorite Thrice song...lots of standouts on Alchemy, but the calm stuff on Beggars in my opinion is their highest musical achievement.
