Unrelated (?) but I don't understand why some folks from the punk or hardcore scene are so mad at Turnstile getting wide exposure to the point of turning on them and giving unfair, bad faith criticism (calling them "posers" etc.). I've seen something similar happen with Code Orange a couple years back as well.

 

Because they’re “sell outs” or whatever. How dare they make money and not have to scrape by!!!

 

Maybe this isn’t what you’re talking about — and maybe we’re looking at different feeds — but what I’ve seen is less of that and more of people talking about hardcore being commercially viable. I don’t think hardcore bands need to set out to be commercially succesful and famous, but if they organically achieves success like Turnstile has then cool, that’s awesome.

 

That’s just built into genres which are seen by many/some of their followers as counterculture

 

I also think the last Code Orange record is straight up bad lol

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I can’t imagine not loving that turnstile record. It’s pure fun.

 

Fwiw, I enjoy Turnstile, and personally like their Glow On material much better than their older stuff.

I’m also very aware their change in sound was very much natural and authentic.

I just thought the point of this thread was to purposefully bad opinions, so I thought of the worst one I possibly could lol

If you see turnstile play songs from that record live and don’t have a good time you are a soulless ghoul who hates fun

 

Seeing them play what was basically a barrierless arena show at Outbreak festival last year was one of the best concert experiences I’ve ever had. The entire room lost it’s shit from the first note.

And I like them, without totally loving them, they’re just THAT fun live.

 

Saw that shit on youtube and it was still one of the best concert experiences I've had!

 

Considering I also saw a clip of Hannibal Burress performing standup wearing a Turnstile shirt on Facebook, today, I'd also say they've definitely upped their status to landlordcore.
