Waiting out a series is such a gamble if the author isn't like Brandon Sanderson or Stephen King lol. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

If I remember correctly, the first two came out basically a year apart, so it didn't seem like a big problem to wait like two or three years and then just read them all. But yeah, really probably not the smartest strategy going forward.

Has anyone experienced a series just not continuing even though the author is still writing and publishing, as in they didn't die or quit writing altogether...??? The one that pops to mind for me is Stina Leicht's series The Fey and The Fallen. She published two books in the series in 2011 and 2012, and I believe it was planned to be a trilogy, but the third book never came out and she has been writing and publishing other books since then, including Persephone Station only a year or two ago.

I just finished The Dragon Reborn and loved it as much as The Great Hunt, if not moreso. There wasn't one standout moment that hit me as hard as the Ingtar thing at the end of TGH, but the entire climax was fantastic with Mat really stepping up as the MVP.

I'm diving right in to The Shadow Rising. Like I've said before, I can't recall exactly how far I had made it into WoT in the past, but I am fairly certain I never made it through book 4. I think as a young person I was very upset about Rand largely disappearing from The Dragon Reborn, especially given the title of the book, but as an older, more experienced reader I think I have more (albeit cautious) respect for the bold move Robert Jordan went for there.

You're heading into one of the best three book stretches in fantasy literature, tbh.

Feel like I need to go back and read 4 again. I was super confused by parts but I think I’d get them better in context now. This may be sacrilege but Memory of Light was probably my fav.

I’m finally doing it. Going to read the whole Memory Sorrow and Thorn/Osten Ard series (if I enjoy it enough). Anyone read any?

It's excellent. Been a bit since I've read it and I need to read the most recent stand alone.

Managed to pick the books up in a charity shop for £3.50 but always wanted to read them. Hopefully now I can get a good start.

Huh, I just realized I've read two books within the past couple of weeks titled The Last Guardian totally by coincidence. (The Jon Shannow series, and Warcraft)

Currently reading The Dragonbone Chair and really liking it so far. Better than my previous read of it but that was years ago when id just started getting back into it.

If I haven't said so already; Eleventh Cycle by Kian Ardalan should be on everyones reading list. Morose world inspired by Dark Souls and the story is just as intriguing. The character moments are incredible and I'm really invested in this world already.

Eleventh Cycle and Of War and Ruin are my top 2 books this year so far.

Double post here but I'm currently reading and I just have to say that I just adore fantasy books. I've definitely picked a good few for my last reads.

My next read is the sci-fi @Vivatoto sent me in the exchange, then a litrpg fantasy series my friend wants me to read, and then I'm diving into Malazan. So it's about to be a fantasy avalanche.

Super glad to hear you liked Eleventh Cycle. That'll be coming up for me in like a month or so. I'm really itching to read it.

I did make someone block me on Reddit because we argued about the grammar of a couple quotes from it, though, so at least there's that.

More to your later point, SFF is just so so good. Love it.

I really enjoyed it and loved the writing but yeah, there were some typos/mistakes that I tried to overlook.

I was reading The Last Ranger by JDL Rosell and it has some similar Horizon Zero Dawn vibes with the Titans and I just loved it!

I just finished The Republic of Thieves, 3rd book in the Gentleman Bastards series by Scott Lynch.

I knew the 4th book (out of 7) wasn't out yet. What I didn't know was that the 3rd book came out in 2013!!! I unknowingly jumped into another unfinished multi book fantasy series!! Damn it all

Ha, the argument in question were because the dude's examples didn't actually have any mistakes. Just a bit of messing around. I'm unsurprised that something self-published is a little more prone to errors, but eh, that's not a big deal. Super excited to dive in.

And hey, what a coincidence, I just started The Last Ranger! I figured since the sequel's Kickstarter is just about complete I should actually read the first one that I backed first, haha. Only a couple chapters in but I'm enjoying it so far.

Yeah it's an enjoyable read - i do tend to give indie books some leeway but if it gets ridiculous then i just don't bother with them.

Nice! I think i'm at part 2 and it's been great so far. Hoping it sticks with it. I did see the Kickstarter and the books look so good!
