My favorite Pierce the Veil in the last ten years!

Really loved their first three albums but don’t really listen to much post-hardcore anymore- this speaks more to my current tastes with just enough classic Pierce the Veil sprinkled overtop. Will definitely give it more spins.

I mean it’s def my favorite in nearly ten years as well but that’s mostly an indictment on the last record and the forced break than anything lol

Most of this is fine, but the majority of it feels kind of uninspired and isn’t very interesting.

Wish there was more in the vein of nirvana

I'm with you fully. Just familiar enough to scratch the PtV itch, but a pretty cool step forward for them. Maybe the time was just right for me but I'm stoked on this

disappointing first listen... it's not even the instrumentals that bother me, it's mostly the lack of vocal intensity. bummed that pass the nirvana is the only heavy song on here. i'll still give it some more spins to see if it grows.

As someone who has never really listened to this band and just checked it out because of Paul Meany's involvement, I think this album is pretty good!

I need a tour so bad. The last time I saw them was 2016 when they played all of Misadventures and like 2 other songs. So I haven't seen them properly since 2013

I don't really listen to these guys anymore and probably won't start, but yeah Emergency Contact is still real solid for me. I'll be listening to that a lot.

I think this is the best album they have released from front to back. I don’t mind that it doesn’t have an over abundance of heavy tracks…

It’s not even a heavy versus melodic type thing for me personally - it just feels listless and flat. I like their middle ground stuff but it’s missing “hooks” or energy overall. Sonically it sounds clean and crisp though.

Definitely feel catfished by the first two singles - very Paramore-Esque in that vein…

First listen through was very easy to tune out to. Hoping to give it a more focused listened next week at work.

I thought the same but Pierce The Veil actually put out a good album where Paramore’s I could barely get through. Lol

I cannot get into this after hearing how sick of a song Pass The Nirvana is.

Yeah that song as a first single gave me major blue balls lol

I don’t hate any of this, it’s completely fine and I’ll give it some listens, it’s just really lacking the kind of punch I was hoping for.

Yeah I'm in the same boat as most of you. Was hoping for more experimental sounds. That being said Vic's lyrics are great and I do like Shared Trauma and So Far So Fake.

10000% true. I've listened to this album way more than the new Paramore one so far. I just cannot get into the new Paramore album at all. And I love... LOVE everything prior to The News that that band has put out.

That’s how I am with Paramore too, but their new one…. It’s rough.

This is not very good IMO. Slow and plodding without much technicality or punch to it at all. I get it was always a selling point, but it's ALL about Vic's vocals now, without much else going on, whereas the vocals were an addition/compliment to some other interesting stuff on prior albums. I never was a huge fan as each album came out, but when I went back to PTV recently, I genuinely was impressed with the musicianship and felt I overlooked some really technical stuff, and I can't say that about this album at all.

It's catchy, and I can see why some might like it, but from what I wanted/expected out of a new PTV after all these years, it's a big miss.

Everything feels so agonisingly mid-tempo on this album, even the faster songs

We reach for the longest shadow

I'll start by saying they were 100% in the right to get rid of Mike, and I know that had to be hard for Vic, to move on in a band without your brother.

But I think it might be fair to say he brought a lot of energy/urgency to this band that is lacking on this album.

Yeah I think that's the problem for me is that it feels like the same BPM throughout the album making it feel like one continuous monotonous song.

There are some highlights there but I was definitely expecting more. Their past two albums had songs that needed to be on my gym playlist while this has none.

Really love "Damn the Man, Save the Empire". Just went through this again in full and can agree that the pacing/tempo is so samey where it never kicks into high gear at any point. Need a little of both coming from PTV

Maybe I’m just living a mid-tempo kind of life this past week, but it’s honestly only growing on me. I super understand a desire for a more dynamic Pierce the Veil like we’ve had in the past, but I think the sound they’re going for here is really well realized.
