I agree, this definitely sucks. There's so much music out there that I can't listen to bc the person who created it makes bad decisions that I feel uncomfortable with. it took me a while to be feel cool listening to foxing again. I say its cool and that it isn't abig deal but it is lol

 

Any one could yeah, I'm glad most of the people I look up to and listen to seem to be pretty decent people though or at least if they are shitty they keep their dumb thoughts to themselves.

I'd be just as grossed out by the things he said if it came from someone I was a big fan of though for sure.

 

one of the things that bothers me is I tweeted him

"I expected better from you"

and he responded with "weird"

 

Yeah poor us whatever will we do!

 

so this is the first time this as happened to me to an artist that I REALLY love.. I just feel conflicted. I've been so excited to listen to this, i love the guitar work the drums are fantastic, even the vocal delivery is strong. I love the rhythmic aspect of it and it was probably going to be in my top 10.. now i just feel almost guilty putting it on... what does it mean to listen to an artist that makes terrible decisions? Does it indicate the listener as well?

 

it's up to the person to make their own decisions in what makes the comfortable or not
this scenario while mike's a dick and i lost a lot of respect for him this isn't enough to make me stop listening to his music

 

You have to either learn to separate the artist from the art, forgive and move on, or separate yourself from the artist and their art completely. Do what feels right to YOU though.

I listen to a lot of people that are, or probably are, huge assholes. It's whatever. Just recognize it and come to your own conclusions

I think that depends on the person. But you're right. Sometimes there's more to it than that. That was just my basic short answer to a complex question.

 

Yes, but I prefer to remember the good posts, some by you, that helped me understand the topic a lot more.

 

dude said some dumb stupid shit but it wasn't hate speech and he didn't assault someone so to me that's fine. as i said, loss of respect and that in its own means a lot, but that's sort of my own personal guidelines for this sort of thing

yeah no one is in here saying "stop listening to AF or you're bad" it's up to you to make your own decisions on how to proceed with the art, you just can't shame anyone for deciding this is where they draw the line

 

This is enough for me never support him financially but I'll still listen
