Fair - I’ll just enjoy the wrestling and hope a story emerges from it

 

Am I the only one thinking that the Acclaimed losing the belts as they did has been overblown? Like I've no love for the ass boys, and I've no doubt it'll be a short transitional reign, but it sometimes feels like AEW fans in particular are too quick to say their favourite acts have been killed by not carrying a title or dropping their title.

 

I agree with this. I think I saw it said either in here or somewhere else that the Ass Boys got no reaction on their win and I am like well shock and anger is a reaction and there was a ton of that.

There is also a generalized story to tell there of The Acclaimed being first time champs and not taking every opponent seriously yada yada yada.

 

They haven’t been killed at all and they’ll always be super over. A different team should’ve gotten the rub from beating them for the titles

It's awful because most wrestling booking sucks generally speaking and doesn't strike the right note, like 90 percent of it, and geeks like Drew are here to remind us every single time it doesn't hit right lmao.

I understand not everyone feels this way, but I don't need great storylines to enjoy wrestling, it's just a bonus. I just want to watch good wrestling every week and AEW more than provides that. The reason WWE lost me is because it was a show that was 90% segments/10% wrestling and the writing/booking decisions were almost always awful. AEW is the reverse of both of those.

 

Wrestling is always going to be a niche audience and AEW's is strong enough that they can keep this going as long as WWE keeps showing 15 minutes of actual wrestling on 2-hour show. The fans want to see the matches regardless of the storyline or star power (which WWE is kind of struggling with now too).

The only thing that worries me about them losing the titles is that so far Tony has shown that once someone has dropped the titles he cools on them and we don’t see them for weeks
