If MJF is a bad or average wrestler it is only by the insane standards of the AEW roster. He's had plenty of great matches.

Kinda wild that he's probably not, what, top 20 on the roster in terms of wrestling ability...yet can believably drop a 5* match in a heartbeat.

He gets that same slotting Roman does; where what they can do versus what they are asked to do is so wildly different and people forget. Roman wrestled the same boring ass babyface match for several years that when he started doing The Bloodline stuff, they forgot he was also the dude that dude the Ambulance Match with Braun and had great matches with Bray where physical/brutality were his strong suit. Same way MJF's "I'm better than you" thing works when he can outchain wrestle a Darby.

  5. It’s because Adam Cole is more than important than MJF

honestly MJF could go to WWE in 24 and AEW wouldn’t skip a beat - that’s how underwhelming his reign has been. He’s a one trick pony heel

Feel like Punk would just get hurt again anyway. He seems so injury prone now.

Its like arguing that WWE needs Brock or Goldberg back. They moved the needle at one point...not so much anymore. Even if Punk hadnt gotten hurt twice and gone crazy, his actual build to becoming champ (April-May) were some of the worst rated shows of Hangmans run, and they popped a bigger number after Brawl Out than they did before. His return would get 100k more fans for a week or two then go right back to their norm.

What they need is what they had when Punk/Danielson/etc debuted, which was a home grown guy on a major arc for people to latch onto.

Let's get these people moving faster!

I think there's an important distinction between popping page views on the dirtsheets and popping consistent ratings. Him returning would achieve the former, but given he can't work consistently without getting injured, there shouldn't be an expectation he would raise the floor for ratings. Sure he brings drama and intrigue, but the Vince drama only helped WWE because the result of it was HHH taking over and dispirited fans becoming hopeful the entire product would improve.

  13. I personally think TK has booked the promotion like shit since the incredible Hangman-Omega feud and that’s why the ratings stink.
Throwing punk into the title scene when he should have been using him like he did in the feuds with Darby and MJF was a huge mistake

  14. The wrestling is great as always I just don’t care about any of the stories being told

Why would I buy Revolution in a few weeks? What’s the money match or feud?

    No Fun. Not Ever.

If I ever think this way when it comes to anything in wrestling, someone please smack me upside the head.

  16. Why spend $50 tho if there’s nothing enticing? We all know how a MJF match is gonna end by now, womens division is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ tag titles are a joke now, Joe vs wardlow is an awesome dynamite main event

if Cole has his return match at Rev I’ll probably buy it

Rinse and repeat. Same ol' take we always see before every single PPV. Plus just use a VPN and it's $20.

I do think Revolution might suffer with PPV buys, but I don’t think it’s because of the product. UFC is putting on one of their biggest PPV’s the night before with Jon Jones comeback fight that I think is definitely going to hurt the buyrates for AEW. I’m on the fence about Revolution, but that usually means I end up buying the show lol

AEW has yet to have a bad PPV so complaining about the show is a bit odd. Even if the builds haven’t been great, the shows always deliver.

  23. I don’t think it’ll be a bad show wrestling wise - that’s not what I’m saying. But what separates this from a POV worth $20-50 or just like a super sized dynamite?
And again it’s probably unfair to have that mindset because they give us such high quality matches and stipulations on free tv that naturally you expect something more or different on PPV

    MJF/Bryan
    Mox/Hangman blow off
    Joe/Wardlow
    Dope trios match
    Cole comeback match

That’s already worth $50 and you know there’s going to be other great matches.

I’d tend to agree with you if the company didn’t have a 3 year track record of the most consistently great big shows of any wrestling company ever.
