I've watched this more times than I care to admit

 

So the House has another stupid committee hearing going on today. Fucking Ron Johnson being questioned and giving testimony is so fucking dumb.

I can see that first point, but I have a hard time believing that was actually happening. There are established standards of care here - despite this person stating that there aren't - and so many other things are presented in such bad faith or are outright lies that it's hard to take any of it seriously.

And on the "groupthink" or whatever you want to call i, there is some anecdotal evidence of it, such as what you presented, but I think that's all but to be expected. For so long gender was presented as this binary choice between female and male to most people and, then when you open people up to the idea of gender as a spectrum, that there is anywhere between female and male - or beyond, or both, or neither - that they can exist, you're inevitably going to have this kind of exploration and questioning. It's normal and healthy, and should be encouraged like it is with other socially-constructed characteristics, but only when it comes to gender is it suddenly seen as problematic. But there's also a big gap between that kind of exploration and questioning and any form of medical transitioning, which brings us back to those standards of care that need to be followed.

 

First time I actually saw video and this is fucking absurd. People just yelling and screaming. Fuck all these people.

 

I've been watching every SOTU since Obama was in office.

Listen, not everyone likes whoever is president. We all get that, but what fucking adult acts like that? Were these "adults" not taught how to RESPECT YOUR ELDERS or a fucking PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES? clearly not.

Not once during Trumps SOTU did any Democrat yell or heckle him.

This amount of disrespect wouldn't be tolerated in another other fucking country. Absolutely absurd! I hope every single Republican in that chamber is embarrassed as fuck!

Definitely! And since cis/hetero is the the default/normative for society at large they've never had cause, in most cases, to examine their own sexuality and gender identity.

I was actually having a conversation that touched on this with my wife not too long ago as an idea struck me while listening to a podcast about supporting gender non-conforming children. For so long, and for so many at least elder millennial and older at least, the male-female gender binary encompassed everything from biological sex to sexual orientation to gender expression and identity and on. Obviously this was false, but the dominant societal viewpoint was that men had penises and otherwise looked like men, acted like men, were attracted to women, etc. and similarly for women. In the last ~25 years especially there has been a lot of progress disentangling sexual orientation from that concept, but the same hasn't yet been accomplished for gender identity and expression.

seems like not the best idea to be a racist in a community that is half made up of natives! but what do I know. my BIL also works at the high school and ive been getting more information through the day. shit Is bad, apparently the school board is meeting with the native community tomorrow to figure out the next steps.
