“It’s one of the craziest softwares I’ve ever seen on planet Earth, and you can become a millionaire just using ChatGPT I guarantee you,” advises a young man in one video wearing a “CEO” beanie.

I tried to use ChatGPT to figure out how our software was calculating APY for continuously compounding interest today but it didn't work because it literally can't do math. It kept messing up order of operations and just getting wrong numbers when multiplying. Seems like a much worse WolframAlpha tbh.

 

Like I would say, shouldn't x*y = z not a and it would be like. Yes, my mistake, you are right.

 

Well at least when the AI takes over, and something fucks up we can count on it to take responsibility. Unlike a lot of folks I work with

 

I have used it to do a few things for my job. I got it to write some javascript code to help me automate some routine tasks, but even then it's hard for it to figure out exactly what I need so I did some modifications. I've also tried it for digital ad copy which typically has character restrictions and it can never seem to understand the prompt "write this in 90 characters or less" it always ends up being 110-120 and I have to rewrite it. Still, I guess it's saved some time?

 

This is some deranged shit. That we went from "omg so and so isn't wearing the flag pin" outrage, to this, is really a whole new level of "we may be too far gone" for me.

 

I'd say it's sad how much the right eats up this performative bullshit, but I know a good number of center & center-left people who love things like Pelosi ripping up the state of the union address.

 

the worst part is these same people will complain about "virtue signaling" if a tv show makes a character gay

a big part of layoffs in tech and banking are due to pivoting to AI. ChatGPT was more of a catalyst for it. Have fun while it lasts lol.

it's not about replacing jobs but about the amount they're going to invest, I think that's been confused in media a lot.
