I hate having two belts but it at least gives you options to capitalize on how over Sami is right now without it interfering with Cody. I just hope they trust him in one of those big spots like they did with DB in 2014.

 

So I got back into WWE after the 2015 Royal Rumble...where it trended on Twitter with #CancelWWENetwork it was so bad. I followed through WM out of curiosity and got hooked back in by KO when he debuted against Cena. Which introduced me to NXT, as my first event there was Takeover:Brooklyn. Then I went back looking for KO matches and found his feud with Sami, and then it was the through-line for the IC title for all of WM32 season and the several months after.

They've always had something special, but, seeing it as the emotional anchor of this story definitely gets me excited for where it goes. They are the two guys I was so sad to see re-sign with WWE...but man was I wrong.

 

If they split the belts, they have babyface champion Cody Rhodes to main event the show.

 

Anyone who says "the person who beats Roman needs to be the only one...having him lose twice weakens it!" is just simply not capable of following stories.

Hell, put Cody over him on Night 1 if you want it to feel bigger, but, Romans empire is crumbling. It fits if he's scared of losing both belts now.

 

I have never been in a crowd so behind a babyface than Sami at R Evolution. He is a phenomenal babyface.

Just watched it back...the stuff Roman is berating with before the turn is great. "You can go back to doing Jackass stuff!".

But when Jimmy super kicks his head off, he says to Jey: "You say you love him like a brother!? Nah, I'm your brother!"

Yeah, there's no way they can do Usos v Sami/KO now. They're building an entire new arc around splitting the Uso brothers from this.

 

I do wonder... is one or two top belts actually better?

You can't deny, that having the single belt with roman being the clear top dog has made this storyline *far* more impactful. It will still have been good, but if the likes of Brock and Drew and Lashley had spent the last year holding one of the other top championships... I don't think people would care quite as much. I think the one top title and then having both the US and IC titles is honestly enough singles titles even with the two brands.

 

The ending even perfectly referenced the shield betrayal haha

 

The Usos splitting would also protect their reign because they lost it from self-destruction. That being said, the tag division is a clown show right now so it'll be hard to pull it off unless it's Sami/KO.

 

Splitting the Usos... or Jey pulling Jimmy from the bloodline to further weaken it? Fact that they could go either way definitely makes it even more compelling

Agreed though that the story being KO and Sami vs Jey and Jimmy feels like it might be too crowded. Might be better to have someone like Ricochet and Braun be the ones to get at least one of the tag titles off them.

 

I’m watching Cody talk right now and him being such a cornball is pretty endearing

 

He's really good at this stuff lol. His push is justified.

 

Also Cody putting Gunther over is awesome
