I wake up in the morning and drink diet coke I’m built different

 

i only drink coke with my whiskey, that makes it good for you

 

Does the response to the murder of Tyre Nichols feel… muted? to anyone else, or is it just me?

 

i think like a lot of other issues people are just exhausted. Combine that with the shorter attention spans of today and it feels like people can’t sustain the anger on social media. The chaos of the Trump years broke some people’s resolve I think.

And it’s bad because protests and movements are usually only successful if they’re sustained for months and years on end

 

For like a month-and-a-half towards the start of the pandemic, I drank my morning coffee with a couple shots of whiskey (plus other alcohol abuse) bc I was furloughed from my job and kinda thought, “I don’t really have a purpose, might as well drink.” It tasted good, but I would only recommend it if you want to feel like shit while watching National Geographic documentaries.

 

I think part of the muted response is them doing the damage control of “Let’s drop it on a Friday after work so people are so tired and checked out that it will cause minimal outrage.”

 

I've also seen a lot of "Well they fired the officers and charged them so what more do you want?" type reactions

 

So I’m going back to school this year to get my degree and my job has tuition reimbursement but it’ll only be about half. I can cover the rest of the expense out of pocket, but I’m wondering, if I applied for student loans now in 2023 would I be able to get the loan forgiven if/when that ever happens and/or would my payments be paused right away?

Coke Zero for me. I’m built extra different.

 

I like both, but I do prefer to Diet Coke. But sometimes Coke Zero just hits different. Coke Zero is my movie theater drink of choice though.

 

i think I’ve seen just as many articles on my usual news channels as ever but the social media sharing/commenting has been milder. As others said, probably a combo of fatigue/timing/officers-already-charged, but also the cops were black so the racism angle isn’t as much of a drive and most of society doesn’t yet appreciate how that still has implications for racism and policing as an institution.

I also agree the Florida books story should have been bigger, but I’m far more surprised the AP African American studies course being described as having “no educational value” wasn’t protest-inducing. Books have come under fire before, but the AP class felt next level.

 

I’ve had a weird run with coke products. Grew up drinking regular coke (couldn’t stand diet coke) like it was water, eventually migrated to coke zero becuse I was getting fat and it tasted the closest to regular coke to my tastebuds. Stopped drinking pop altogether for a few years. Finally caved and came back to living the good life and somehow now prefer diet cokee to zero.

That being said, I’ll drink either of them any day if it’s all I got. Feed that shit into my veins

 

This scene gave me some very confusing feelings as a child.
