Fair enough...I guess I am just holding my judgement till the full lineup is out...I get the anger towards an organizer making a festival crap though as it happened to me with GovBall over the years

 

He put tickets on sale for $400 without a lineup out, talked so much shit about the other local music festival and threw weird jabs at the bands who were playing it (most of whom have played a bunch of Boozle iterations in the past), personally responded to fans on social media mocking them, and then hyped up a huge announcement for the lineup which ended up being a puppet and Hollywood Undead.

I hope the lineup today is great, but the guy is an asshole.


Him saying that they were screengrabbing peoples comments on instagram to put on display at the festival is such cringe.

 

I guess that's the thing. If the line-up drops and it's solid? People will heel-turn quickly. It's not that people want it to fail. But all of the present evidence indicates that the line-up is gonna be... Not great.

Even if the line-up drops today, though, and it's great? The rest of the roll-out leading up to this was still a steaming pile of very confusing dog poo.

 

Yeah John D is a fuckin loser. I want Bamboozle as an entity to succeed, but I wish it were with anyone other than him. He’s a douche

 

I think his biggest miststep is not understanding how drastically different the festival scene is now compared to 10 years ago. There's no brand loyalty anymore. And there's plenty of other brands. Waiting until 3 months before the festival to produce a full lineup with headliners is risky enough, but leading up to that lineup with teases that the fest is gonna suck is even riskier. Especially with 2 other local festivals already announced and on sale.

He made a snarky response to one of my comments about that. He said something like "Govball and Adjacent attendees arent our target audience." Which is the stupidest response. Bamboozle prides itself on having a genre diverse lineup. Which means their audience would have diverse tastes, and would find A LOT of festival lineups appealing. I love pop punk, I love hip hop. But if I've already spent $400 on a hip hop festival this year, I'm skipping the pop punk one.

I mean, his festival started because he fucked over another promoter! That's literally why it's called Bamboozle. This whole thing started with a shitty, unprofessional move.

 

Gov Ball and Adjacent have an almost exact overlap in a venn diagram with Bamboozle these days.

 

I'm not sure we can say what the target audience is until we see the full line-up, to be honest. As it stands, I actually agree that there's not much overlap with those two festivals.

From what we've seen it kinda feels like they're shooting for normies who attended Warped Tour from 2008 until it died but spent more time at the Monster Energy stage than anywhere else, but would pick a random rapper or a DJ to check-out at some point during the day. And they maybe caught a song or two by a pop-punk/emo band and thought "Hah, this is fine" then walked away.

 

I hear ya'll....I guess im just in the camp of if the lineup is good enough to get me there then all these other thigs become moot...and in terms of him being a creep or whatever I am sure that the other festivals have members behind the scenes that are similar (perhaps just not as in your face about it as John is) considering they basically are all owned by the monopolies

I’m technically in the new video 3 times- they split my comment about him lunging at the keyboard trying to make another rant into 2 notes and then the big goof read them out of order lol neither one makes sense the way he delivered it

I think that's the case for most people. You just seem a bit more optimistic than most that what they have to reveal is going to get you there. Haha. As far as the line-up goes, I guess I'm somewhere in between the two camps.

I do think that there's a timeline where they pull out all the stops and the bands they announce today will make all of this moot and the line-up suddenly feels super cohesive, very well curated, and provides enough value to justify the ticket prices. But based on the way they've presented things thus far? I think the odds of that being the case are incredibly slim.

 

Actually, you said it wrong. It's "Are Moreszzzz." Big boomer energy deliberately mis-pronouncing a name. Hah.

Surprisingly he got it pretty close. It’s not “Rumors” like most people think, it’s a play on my last name “Armour” but the @ is the “A”. Not that it matters or was ever intended to be said out loud

As awful as they’ve been with marketing/social media, I’m surprised it hasn't leaked yet. Maybe it’s just that nobody cares enough to go through the effort to leak it
