Yeah, Fall Out Boy are a solid ampitheater act on their own at this point. And would likely draw really well if they were positioned as a headliner for a festival like this.

At most other festivals they wouldn't be a headliner, but they'd be direct support to whoever the headliner is for sure.

Apparently big on TikTok and looks to be a faith-based singer/songwriter so... Yeah. This is weird. Haha.

Never seen a festival use a radius clause as crutch as much this one

Alright I just looked at the 2011 and 2012 posters and they both had about 100 artists each. So call me an idiot, but I’m still holding out hope that they’ve still got half the lineup left to announce and that they can still redeem themselves somehow.

So maybe FOB doing a TTTYG album play through it turns 20 next year no ? Would that make tickets sell possibly lol or ppl over that album bc I’m not lol

Actually it was 2017 and 2019, but neither were regular shows.

In 2017 it was a Jingle Jam with Dua Lipa for $30 and in 2019 it was a free kickoff concert the night before the Big Ten Championship Game.

I don’t think Fall Out Boy are big enough to move a ton of tickets. Their last tour they had to do with two other big rock acts because presumably they couldn’t fill the venues up on their own right? I dunno, I feel like outside of this website I don’t see people talking about them much, but I also don’t follow them closely.

Depends on how this next record does. Mania wasn't very liked if this one is also not well received I could see them moving down from an arena band to a college arena level band. But the leaked date from months ago looked like a fall amphitheater tour was coming. So who knows

Pete Wentz has said they dont want to be a nostalgia band and that FOB wont do an album anniversary tour, that was in 2018 and definetly he can change his mind. Although if they ever do an album show probs it will be in Chicago.

With that in mind, give me FOB at Riot Fest 2023 playing TTTYG in full

That tour was initially put together with a bit more strategy in mind than that, I think. If you'll recall, when it was initially announced there was a lot of synergistic promotion going on between the three acts. Releasing singles on the same day, etc. And if I recall, it was the shared management group of the three artists who put the idea in play in the first place.

But COVID kinda fucked that whole idea.

Fall Out Boy is still a very big band that can do very good numbers on their own. Maybe not arenas or whatever but... Definitely hockey arenas. Enough to headline a "genre-focused" festival like Bamboozle. Not Lolla or anything like that, but they'd still sub there I'm sure.

The reason you don't see a lot of people talking about them is because there hasn't been much to talk about the last few years... If they put out a new album that people like? People will start talking about them again. Guaranteed.

With the growing popularity of MCR and Paramore, Im surprised there arent more people talking about them ngl. But also I dont think their popularity has decreased that much. This year they were suppouse to headline Music Midtown along MCR, Jack white and Future

Idk how many modern bands are filling up massive 60k+ football stadiums all by themselves lol. A bunch of legacy acts

They sell out 15-20k basketball arenas by themselves which should be good enough to headline a fest like this

Aren’t all arenas the same size as hockey arenas?

    There's NBA/NHL arenas...then there's college/minor league/G-League arenas which barely, if at all, break 10K.

So apparently their MANIA tour was mostly NBA/NHL arenas and the only baseball stadium was Chicago. I thought they headlined baseball stadiums for that whole tour. I could see them bringing in 10-15k then depending on how well this album does.

For sure, but the comment said maybe not an arena band but definitely hockey arenas which was kind of confusing lol

NHL arenas are as big as arenas get

Fall Out Boy is still very much an arena band and their draw will be helped by the fact that they haven't had any new music out or activity in 3-4 years (save for Hella Mega). However, if I were them and/or their manager, I'd stay the hell away from this shitshow which would be on brand for them as they've actively been avoiding emo nostalgia based on both their sound and choice of tourmates over the past decade.

Yeah, that's my bad for bringing in local bias. Should have said "smaller arenas." We have two smaller arenas here in MA that are ~7k and ~14k each. Both of which I mostly associated with college and/or minor league hockey.

One interesting thing about arenas, even the major ones, is most concerts actually are at 10-12k capacity since a certain portion of the arena is cut off (even with seats and/or GA floor).

I think I said it in here already, but Killboy was a nice discovery from this lineup. Just realized her new EP was produced by Feldman. Her song Nails reminds me a lot of Stand Atlantic, but this song in particular should be a radio hit:
