I thought it was odd in the climax that Jake and Neytiri apparently lacked the underwater breathing skills that the kids learned. What were they doing the entire time if not learning how to exist like the water tribe? It showed them learning how to ride the fish dragons, so why not breathing skills too?

 

Jake was weak from his fight with Quaritch. not sure about Neytiri

 

Two different people today have said they saw this without ever seeing the original. Truly insane behavior.

 

look I'll eat crow if it drops hard in the next couple weeks, but everyone in hollywood is an idiot and they're expecting it to be frontloaded in the same vein as all their terrible assembly line franchise movies for the last decade, despite every single cameron movie up to this point

like people were saying in here, 20 bucks for a crowd-pleasing three hour theme park ride with tech no one's ever seen before is going to get people to line up at the theme park

 

Idk about tech no one has seen before. It looks like a high polished AAA game for PC, especially with those higher frame rates. The CGI in this film wasn’t a huge jump from what you can see in major video games, unlike Avatar 1 which was miles ahead of anything on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2009.

Opening 2nd in Japan even though it was the widest release ever for a film

But in all seriousness I'm just kidding around and will still see this movie at some point. Looks beautiful.

 

Been thinking about fucking good this was. Need to go back to pandora several more times while this still has the premium screens for the next few months on its long journey to becoming the new highest grossing film of all time

 

I personally don’t get people’s fixation with this box office stuff. It is extremely boring

it’s obviously not a perfect comparison because it’s art and it’s hundreds of millions of dollars but idk I get why people are into thinking about box office performance
