First listen though, it's good but not great. I expect that to change with repeat listens like most music.

Stand outs to me so far are What Appears, A Place We Set Afire and Saviors Robes.

What time should I expect this to pop up on streaming services? It's usually just a bit before midnight usually, right?

My story with Yellowcard begins thirteen years ago, on the south shore of Brooklyn. It was 2003 - a changeable, formative year for me. I was thirteen years old, too, attending middle school with a focus on music, particularly strings. As it may be easy to imagine, this was a tough time for me. I was in a very difficult school, with very competitive people, and the amount of friends I made was minimal to say the least.

There was one friend, who played in orchestra with me, who kept telling me about this awesome band. He pushed, and pushed, and pushed for me to listen to them. "A rock band with a violin, dude", he would tell me. Now, you have to understand that listening to and sharing music was more difficult at this time than it is today. Getting music onto my Dell Jukebox wasn't exactly a 30 second procedure. So, for a while, all he really would do was suggest that I go grab their CD.

Until, for my birthday that year, he bought it for me. Ocean Avenue was in my hands. The car ride home from school that day was awesome. Sonically, I fell in love. Lyrically, I felt emotions I really hadn't felt before -- remember, I was thirteen. And so, that record became my soundtrack for quite some time. My story differs from many people in that Ocean Avenue came out during a very tough time for me. It wasn't necessarily associated with bright summers and beach-days. But it got me through it all.

My grandpa passed away in 2004 and my family moved to New Jersey, all in a span of six months. Ocean Avenue was still there. As a freshman in a new high school with already established cliques and friendships, I struggled through my first few years. Lights and Sounds became a guiding light for me. It was a connection -- it was a growth, musically, too. I am still so attached to the songs and lyrics on that album to this day.

Growing and becoming more comfortable within myself was the perfect juxtaposition with Paper Walls. That record will always sing summer to me -- it was a soundtrack to my senior year in high school that still rings through my ears. I can still see, feel, and hear the memories associated with that record to this day.

And then, When You're Through Thinking. My memories of that record create so much happiness in my mind. I was 21, and the experiences I was able to share with that record are ones I wouldn't trade for anything. I picked up the record before release, I brought new friends to see the band. And I befriended members of Yellowcard in ways I never could have imagined years before.

Southern Air speaks to the best summer of my life -- at the age of 23, with some of my closest friends around me. Lift A Sail speaks to a tougher time, a transient one but still one that is poignant in my life, and reminds me that I will always have the strength to get through.

But enough with my story. Everybody has one of these, and every one of them is different. That's what makes it special to each individual person. Here, today, I feel an amazing range of emotions listening to what I know is the final chapter of this band.

    And that's okay.

To the band: I don't know exactly how each of you will feel over the next few days as this record releases. In the same way that is difficult to explain to us, it can be difficult for fans to explain to you how we feel. But there is one thing I want you all to know: Your music will always be part of my life, part of my story. It will live in my fondest memories and my darkest nightmares. It plays in the background of my summer nights, the violin whispers through my head as I remember the coldest, loneliest winter days.

And that, truly, is the power of music. You have all created something that can take me back to so many places, times, feelings, and emotions in my life. You have left a lasting impression on me, my friends, and my family. And you have created a cohesive catalog, over 15+ years, which I can always draw back to to find strength.

You should all be very proud of what you have created. Thank you for all you have done, and I hope there is a way that I can continue to support you all in your future endeavors.

Just found this review: Review: Yellowcard - Yellowcard | Sputnikmusic

I haven't listened yet, waiting for my official download link to go live, since my order hasn't even shipped yet (Final Tour Package, through district lines, which apparently won't ship because my order is "waiting for items" -- hopefully they aren't waiting for the concert date, which is Salt Lake City 10/28).

This goes hand in hand with Lift A Sail in the same way WYTTSY went with Southern Air. It has the same alternative rock, radio-ready sound (which isn't pejorative) of their last effort, but it pushes more towards country and a reminiscence of their past than towards electronic elements.

After a couple listens, I'm pretty happy with it. I think it will be a grower, because the songs feel denser than usual and there are some left-field turns.

That said, I have three main issues, two of them related to pace and cohesiveness:
    - "Leave A Light On" is a stunner (might be my favorite; either that or "Fields & Fences"), nonetheless, I think it would work better closer to the end.
    - "I'm A Wrecking Ball" leaves me cold, it goes nowhere and I dislike the chorus' lyrics. Perhaps it would make its point being shorter, an interlude.
    - "Savior's Robes" (which is great) sounds too angry and resentful to fit the tone of the record.

For now my Yellowcard album ranking looks like this:

    1. When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes

    2. Southern Air
    3. Lift A Sail

    4. Paper Walls
    5. Lights And Sounds

The concision of this one helps it for me. Both Lift a Sail and Paper Walls are great records, but I don't think they're quite as stellar from start to finish as this one and Southern Air.

Ha, crying in class would probably be poor form. You can come back to it later.

I felt this way at first too. The choruses don't take flight in quite the same way they do on Southern Air and Paper Walls. But give it time: it clicked for me around the fourth or fifth listen.

Aww man, looking forward to reading that later.

Funny how every other album they release, I love the hell out of. This will likely be no different, seeing that Lift a Sail never gelled with me and after 3 listens, this one might rank as my second favorite.

Music doesn't make me tear up or cry, so it doesn't register with me on that sort of level, however I do have to say I was not expecting this album to deliver a heartfelt goodbye so fucking well. I mean, I had faith, but damn, they exceeded my own expectations. It's weird to wish for this, but if more bands did 'final albums' like this, it'd be so awesome. To have MCS leave us w/ Panic Stations, for example, is a real bummer when you take this album into account.

Favorite tracks (as of now): "Fields & Fences" (duh), "A Place We Set Afire," and "Savior's Robes" (sidebar: can we talk about the awesome Clarity-esque interlude in the middle of this track?!). Truthfully, though, this is the most I have immediately latched onto an album of theirs since Paper Walls. Very similar feelings and impact on me.

I hope it stops raining (mostly because I don't have an umbrella or raincoat) so I can listen to this in about an hour on a walk during my lunch break. I can't do my first listen of this album sitting at my desk and working.

Album is a great send off for them. I really enjoy it. I will give it about a 7.5/10. Wrecking Ball and Leave a Light On aren't doing it for me. And I wish Savior's Robes didn't have distorted vocals.

LAS never really hit me and I felt they tried too hard with it. I did enjoy the lyrics on the album though.

Southern Air was good and I see why so many people love it, but that album came out during a rough time in my life so it's hard for me to listen to about 3/4 of the songs.

WYTTSY stuck with me for a long time. Didn't really care for Sing For Me.

PW probably my #5 favorite album of all time. It's their only album I can listen to front to back without skipping a song.

L&S is beautiful. 2nd favorite album of theirs and I hated it when it first came out. I appreciate what they did on this album, but maybe it came out at the wrong time. I met Sean this summer and we talked about this album (10 year). He said a lot of work went into this album strings wise and it's something that's very special to him. It's definitely their "In Reverie".

OA - Classic. But the more I go back to it as time goes on, It falls down my list of their favorite albums.

OFTK - Drifting, Sure Shot, and Something of Value introduced me to the band back in 2002.

Super top heavy for me with the exception of the finale. I was hoping for a more anthem-like finish, but it was nice nonetheless. I really love the top half, but the mid-to-slow tempo songs on the record really don't do much for me.

    First three songs RIPPPPP
