I saw The Amazing Spider-Man 5 times in theaters, and then finally broke that with 6 trips to see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Idk, I'm just a dumbass nerd who really likes ol' Webhead I guess.

I’ve seen a ton of movies twice. I think the only one I’ve seen 3 times in theaters is Austin Powers in goldmember and that wasn’t really by choice the second 2 times.

I mean, yes, there are a lot of worse things you can spend money on, but that has nothing to do with my question.

I'm seriously and honestly asking what the logic is, cause I'm curious. Google says it's an average of 10 bucks a ticket (which seems conservative, actually), and depending on the movie, a 2-3 hour time commitment at least.

Also, I'm no longer talking about seeing a movie twice, I'm talking about those of you that say you've seen a movie three, four, five times.

I guess I don't get what you get out of it when you could just as easily see something new and different. Or are you going with people who haven't seen it and you're wanting to get their reaction?

Movies are a pretty cheap form of entertainment. The bigger issue is that you could be watching a different movie.

Well that's more what I mean. Although depending on what you typically buy at the movies, it could get more expensive, but my point isn't necessarily the expense in terms of just money, it's also the expense in terms of time.

But then again, I'm also not the kind of person who plays multiple runs of a game either. Like, I finished Elden Ring 100% and I'm probably never coming back to it again, but there are people who play multiple runs to try different builds and I am just not about that lifestyle.

Or the people who see multiple shows during a band's tour. Like, I could wrap my head around it if they were playing a different setlist each night, but if you know it's the same setlist, I can't fathom why you'd do that.

I dunno, I guess I'd just rather do new things.

I'm in general agreement. After a few months or even years I might watch something again, but I want to see something I haven't experienced before.

Coincidentally, I've seen the original Avatar about ten times because we used to teach it as part of our unit on imperialism.

Well most movies I see a few times in theaters are due to wanting to experience seeing it in theaters more than once. Movies like Endgame where watching it with an audience makes the film much different than watching it at home.

Traditionally, one of my main motivators to revisit a movie in theaters is going with a friend who hasn’t seen it. Unfortunately, my peer group in the past few years has been a bit more sparse, which makes this a bit less common. As much as I like solo theater trips, I can’t imagine solo double dipping.

I've never gone to the movies alone but it sounds great. My fiance is just a saint who doesn't mind seeing a movie she doesn't give two shits about as long as I'm having a good time lol

I sometimes see horror films alone because my friends aren’t big on most horror films outside of certain franchises

Seeing movies alone is great. Highly recommend. You’re able to see so much more this way without worrying if your friends or significant other will put aside the time or complain about it.

big blockbusters or comedies are the ones to see with friends tho

I've done movies alone a bunch, I love it. First one I remember doing was The Phantom Menace when I was 12
