And I know there's one specific question that's been on everyone's mind on this board here regarding The Callisto Protocol but felt too awkward or embarrased to ask:

Very excited for Hades 2, obviously, but that Dead Cells x Castlevania DLC looks super cool, too

 

Finished Soccer Story, really enjoyed it. Might try Eastward or Chained Echoes next, or just wait a few days for High on Life

The Bayonetta game looks really cool

 

Seeing stuff like the "Fortnite = cocaine" lawsuit (in fairness I didn't read the article, just using it as an example) is really frustrating to me because it's such a heavyhanded, un-nuanced, over-the-top blanket position that overlooks actual problems in favor of fearmongering.

It's like someone saying that carbohydrates should be outlawed because sometimes people binge-eat candy bars, overconsume refined sugar, lose their teeth, and contract all sorts of health issues leading to early graves. Like yeah, I suppose that happens, and it's bad, but saying "carbohydrates are murder molecules" won't help anything and overlooks the smaller issues, like the fact that excess consumption of refined sugar isn't great for your teeth, for example.

The people who lose their fortunes/families/health/sanity to playing Fortnite clearly have a lot more going on than just the mechanics of Fortnite encouraging them to play more. And fixating on those extreme cases not only unfairly stigmatizes videogames, it also overlooks the smaller, more common issues with the mechanics and systems in popular videogames that encourage poor behaviors. I've never played Fortnite, but in general, popular multiplayer games are definitely designed to hook players, encourage them to spend time and money, overextend themselves into videogames instead of balancing them with other activities. I've definitely had friends whose lives have been significantly worsened for a period of time due to FFXIV or Fortnite or whatever; and while it's not the videogames' fault inherently, there's a valuable conversation to be had about moderation in videogames, improving mechanisms for players' health, etc. that gets buried under the more salacious headlines. I wish people would talk about healthy gaming habits and balance instead of outlier cases that almost always have greater compounding factors than just a gambling-lite feature in a popular game.

I will say that I grew up playing plenty of games solo, with my dad, and with friends, but I was also encouraged to pursue all kinds of other hobbies—physical, social, solo, creative, relaxing, challenging, and competitive. As a result, I'm a pretty balanced adult. Planning to do the same with my kids, and it seems to be working so far. It means they enjoy videogames for what they provide but aren't obsessed or stunted.

Anyway, preaching to the choir, I know, but the work week is ending and I wanted to blow off steam haha.

Also, as someone who has never played Bayonetta, I think I should start, series looks great.

 

Vampire Survivors was robbed by Stray for best debut game. Good game but nowhere close.

Has anyone played As Dusk Falls? It’s always something that looked interesting.

 

Tried out the Forspoken Demon today as well. I dont know. Just feels like an open world game.

 

In defense of Forspoken, that build is old as hell. Goes back to pre-E3 I think.

That said... don't expect much, sadly :/

Remnant 1 is great co-op. There's like this roguelite gauntlet mode you can do and that's very nice.
